Only way to get around this which i thought about the other day is to trade #28 + #31 for our F2 prior to the bid28 & 31 will go when the bid happens though. If we did it before the bid then 18 gets used.
By unbalanced I mean after losing Rioli, Bolton and Baker, and with Prestia and Short both getting worse at kicking, we now have the slowest, worst disposal team in the modern era.
If we end up playing Lalor in the forward half near year (where he won't see the ball) and pick a slow stoppage player like Langford then that'll remain the case. It'll stunt the development of the kids having such a stoppage-based team besides making us unwatchable.
My point is you need to play them, so you can't just draft 6 midfielders. Also I think it's pace and outside class we're desperately missing, not endurance running.
It's not just JH and TT. We have Ross, McAuliffe and Dow who are all slow. Obviously it sucks having a bunch of slow mediocre mids but drafting better versions of them isn't the way out.
IMO if we're going Lalor we should rule out Langford and only get Smillie if he slides.
hed be on par with Tauru in that regard you'd think havent seen him stand a forward or spoil in any clipsWeak in one on one contests. We have one like that already in Miller
Having picked up the mail at lalor plaza every day for about 16 years no one says lawlor everyone says layla as if the R is silentEven the way the place is pronounced isn’t super consistent
The guy who it was named after was pronounced law-ler but the common way to say the place these days is lay-lor but both get thrown around
If you can't get 2, who do you take at #1?If we can do 1, 2, and 6 then get lalor, FOS and Jagga that would be amazing. 3 lower isk, high return players who could be a fantastic midfield for a decade +. After that it is building a solid squad around them
Jagga 2024The Tigers wouldn't be so stupid to pick Tauru at 6 and every other list manager knows it.
Your midfield needs at least two potential guns from this draft and you ain't getting them after pick 6.

2 or 6I could see him sliding to 6.

Asking the board using your quote as context
Yes that's why I asked if you don't have 2.Difficult to decide between Lalor, FOS and Jagga. Each does different things. It's a whole thing that matters, and assembling the best package is what matters.
Go look at the best stoppage sides each year this century, a team who averages top 4 stoppages in a season is just as likely to finish bottom 4 as top 4. Comparatively the grand final teams every season have been top 4 for scores from turn overs, it has a far greater correlation with winning games of football over stoppages.
McAuliffe and Ross both have sub 3 second 20m so both are faster than Jagga, Draper didn’t test. And honestly could careless about them as future mids. They were picks in the 40s for a reason, if they become good role players that’s a bonus.
We shouldn’t rule out anyone and instead just pick the players we think will be best in 5 years not next year. The team is virtually a blank slate, no one outside maybe Gibcus looks like being a future top 20 player in the comp. We are at the beginning of a rebuild not in middle, we’re going to be shit next year no matter what. Pretending we need to balance an awful midfield is prioritising a quick fix, something that’s has failed for Carlton, Essendon and St Kilda as they sit around enjoying mid table mediocrity.
It could well happen on draft night, so we possibly have to keep waiting.Any news on pick 2??? Or dead in the water
If North were smart that's what they'd do. They'll get their best offers once teams know who we've picked. It could well happen on draft night, so we possibly have to keep waiting.

Depends how I saw my list. if I thought we could get 2 quality players at those picks to go with our pick at 7, I'd consider it...If we had pick 8 and the Saints had 18 and 20, would you do that trade?
I think I prefer Jonty - competitiveness is one of his attributes... not saying Whitlock's isn't but haven't heard it spoken about as much.I’d prefer a Whitlock over Jonty tbh
Make another shit post and i might give you the slap gif

With the exception of Hopper, they are definitely NOT slow!By unbalanced I mean after losing Rioli, Bolton and Baker, and with Prestia and Short both getting worse at kicking, we now have the slowest, worst disposal team in the modern era.
