I noticed it was once I publicly backed Lalor
It’s understandable that the masses would just follow my lead and impeccable opinions all things AFL
Angry Jake Gyllenhaal GIF

someone tell me their Smokey ….. someone you really like in this draft that hasn’t been mentioned much

I'll vomit if we take Jack Whitlock. Just give me a pure forward. When was rhe last time a Forward/Ruck hybrid was actually genuinely a gun?

Jackson has his moments, but is better as a ruckman.

I'd much rather draft a dedicated forward and a dedicated ruckman.
I don't understand. Would he not be a pure key forward if we chose not to play him in the ruck at all? would you prefer he was only 195cm and never ran through the ruck, but had the same forward craft? He still kicked 2 goals per game...

Being a height where he can chop out in the ruck for 5m minutes a quarter is a huge bonus, not a negative. From all reports he's very tidy below his knees and when the ball hits the ground.

Young bloke from QLD has just returned to his jr club after playing a few years in vic in a higher league

Impressive highlights but can very inconsistent at times
Heard a few suspect he was mismanaged by his coach’s

Jagga number 1.

They still rate Lalor as the player we will pick and probably the highest upside

“Lalor is now on the verge of becoming the AFL's newest No. 1 pick. It will be a selection made with upside in mind - the brutish country midfielder has an array of weapons that could help him become the best player in the game. Lalor is freakishly strong through the hips and breaks out of tackles with a casual flick, but also loves to use his strength defensively by laying crunching tackles and bumps. His most impressive traits lie forward of the ball, where he's a nightmare to defend one-on-one with his strength, power off the mark and strong hands. The yellow and black No. 4 guernsey will soon have a new owner at Punt Road”

I miss him already

From that ESPN article.

10. Josh Smillie (8)
Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro
MID, 195cm
National Champs: 4 games, 18.8 disposals, 5.8 clearances, 3.5 tackles
Talent League: 12 games, 25.5 disposals, 4.8 clearances, 1.3 goals

Smillie has the potential to be the best player from this draft. At 195cm he could become one of the tallest midfielders in the competition, where he's an inside brute that rips the ball out of stoppages and moves it forward with a booming kick. But he doesn't move around the ground well enough right now to be a midfielder and needs to use his height to advantage in the air. What Smillie is, and what he could become, are too far apart to be confident he reaches his ceiling.

Best traits similar to: Tom Green

When I look at Sam Lalor's highlights and Dusty's, they just move differently.

Not disrespecting Lalor at all, but he sort of has a solid one-piece brick of a frame, and almost has a waddle to his movement. Dusty was solid but cleary had a bit more "wirey-ness" to grow into as an 18 year old, if that makes sense. He moved more lithely.

Lalor is already a solid brick. That is good or bad, I'm not sure. His body-shape ceiling is possibly Ollie Wines, which isn't a bad thing given that = brownlow medallist, and he appears to have a better mark than Wines.

With all of this said, as much as I keep saying I've always wanted FOS... Lalor can find the footy when played in the middle. Consistently over 20 touches, had 34 and 7 goals or something for his school side, 42 touches in another game. FOS gets it 12-20 times, it's really just not enough for a top line midfielder, quality aside.

I still want both, but I'm starting to think I'd be happier with Lalor if we only get one. We'll want to find some mids with pace somewhere, but a centre square of Lalor and Smillie in a few years will be scary business.

I miss him already
I do to an extent but think he had definitely done his dash with us

Little surprised to see he didn’t get picked up as a DFA

Although still could find a home during the pre season train on or mid season draft

had a dream we picked some absolute random no one had heard of at one, ive got draft ptsd

I had a dream we took our first 4 picks. Was all excited to see which of the sliders we were going to take at 18. And we passed.

We passed on 18,20,23,24.

Was a bad morning once I woke up. I was furious.

Would not be upset with that haul, probably wouldnt take all of Armstrong, Faull and Gerryn, swap one of the last 2 for Hynes for me. Hynes will be a much loved player where ever he lands.
Hynes a tiger supporter as well
