As has been well documented ZZ features in the top 10 for 20m sprint, agility, standing jump and running jump tests.

Torrent was 7th in agility, which from that short highlights clip you can see in his play. There's a couple of nice side steps to give him space to execute his kicks.

Surely we add a small forward today of we can.

Can't go into the season with only Lohmann and a bunch of key forwards as forward depth
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brain swung forward this year in the reserves.

I believe Torrent is more a natural wing than a forward or back flanker.

would be interesting to know if WCE didn’t take Archer Reid at the pick before ours whether we’d have taken him or still stuck with Morris.
We were going Morris over Reid, but it really was a line ball decision. Oscar Ryan was the player who got closest to our pick that we would've taken over either.

Dunkley can't be a Cat B rookie.

Abberley, Revillle and the forgotten man Greene would be the ones in the mix.
We have got rid of some small forward depth so you would have to think that Reville would make sense.

When is the cut off for adding someone to the Cat B list?
Or isn’t there one?
We'll know at 3 pm today if we're listing sometime. You can't put SSP signings on to a Cat B list.

I feel we still would have taken Morris he fits our structure on what Fagan is trying to do we have Ryan as that ruck/Fwd and Gillett next season I know Archer was a fan favourite but he didn't kick a goal for a month in the under-18s where Morris kicked 30 goals for the year

Getting 2 third tall forwards makes sense to me - we have zero at the moment really. Rayner can obviously play tall but we like him doing some mid minutes. We have nobody who is a true forward in the 190-195cm size.

McStay was a tallish version of it. Gunston was obviously meant to be it. Toby Wooler was one we tried. McFadyen loomed as an option.

It means we have Daniher at 201cm, Hipwood at 203cm. And if we want a third tall atm it would be either Fort 204cm or Ryan 200cm.
It really ties our hands - go shorter and have Daniher as back-up ruck. Go much taller with an extra ruckman. There is no middle ground. It also means if you have either a forward or ruckman go down you are not horribly exposed. From our GF team if Daniher or Oscar went down we were in a lot of trouble.

There are some pretty hand ones around the league. Mihocek. Charlie Curnow and Jack Riewoldt are 194cm and 195cm. Taylor Walker 194cm. Maybe i am stretching with Jeremy Cameron at 196cm. You get a genuine target but plenty of mobility and speed.

So going from 0 to 2 third key forwards -

Highly unlikely.....you just dont come back to form so quickly after an ACL.
I did say near best at the end of the year but i understand what you are saying.

However, i think it is easier for a defender to feel more confident when returning.
Feeling more confident will have you in a better space to be more involved and will get better over time.
A KPD in general is less likely to be doing a lot of turning compared to all other positions.
More running towards the ball and then moving in the same direction to unload.

Returning from an ACL is always a risk, but Doedee knows what lies ahead of him having done one before.

Morris the oldest by 3 months
ZZ the youngest with the same birthday as me apart from the age gap of 53 years.

Conole mentioned ZZ has not been in the system all that long and Torrent only 12 months coming from a cricket background.
After that comment i think Torrent could turn out okay.
Going only on the highlight clips he looks like he has been playing the game from a young age.
I can see vast improvement from him if he can slot into the rigors of AFL training.
Most likely midfield which usually means F/M at AFL level.
At present looks a bit slow to be a wing where he has played some footy.

ZZ definitely but Torrent has been playing Aussie Rules for a while, it's just that he's never done a preseason until this year because of cricket commitments. This was the first year he's focused on Aussie Rules rather than being secondary to cricket.

Thanks for that, i was just going on Conole comment.
But that make more sense regarding how he was moving in the highlight clips.
Will now have to readjust my expectations regarding quick improvement.

Torrent moves and delivers the ball well so hopefully won't be a regular turnover type player.
I will get to see him and the others preseason and the preseason games to form a better opinion.
As Conole said it's unlikely these 4 guys get early games in 2023 at AFL level.

Interesting.

A good Carlton supporting mate of mine in Melbourne reckons that Luke Lloyd is going to be a gun!

His son plays at the same club as Luke & he has watched Luke play against men. He reckons he saw Luke take a mark floating across the front of the pack ala Royce Hart (Hey no I am saying he is the next Hart!. Just a comparison with this mark).

My mate cannot understand why Luke dropped to the 40's.

My son now older than the draftees... time flies!
I thought it was bad when you're closing in on the retirement age.

Maybe I still have hope in next year's draft as a mature ager!
