Could we play Levi in the backline, similar to how Collingwood need Nick Daicos and North with Sheezel before building him up for the midfield? Just looks like a creative and calm user and someone we want the footy to be with.

Absolutely could, but think we have enough weapons down back now and Levi will have more opportunity to rotate onto the ball and wing off HFF.

Quick prediction based on nothing.

Not sure what your 2025 list capacities are though.
We currently only have 6 list spots available. If we're not taking Sam Day during the SSP, we'll be drafting 4 players at the National Draft. Since it's likely that we are, we'll be drafting 3 players at the draft. Personally I think Gallop is more likely than Unwin because we drafted Craven & McLachlan in the MSD.

I think Haley also invented the “keep it simple” approach but Matthew’s gets the credit for adding “you’re not rocket surgeon
“ or something like that.
I think when you look at the coaching tree of all the premiership winning coaches (maybe even all the current day coaches) they can pretty much all be traced back to one of Norm Smith, Tom Hafey or Allan Jeans.

As an example, Fages spent time at Hawthorn with Clarko, who spent time with Mark Williams, who spent time with Kevin Sheedy, who was coached by Tom Hafey.

Craig McRae and Chris Scott, both played under Leigh Matthews, who was coached by Allan Jeans.

Simon Goodwin spent time with Paul Roos, who was coached by Rodney Eade, who was coached by Allan Jeans.

Damien Hardwick, see Fages, but also played under Mark Williams AND Kevin Sheedy. That's a fantastic pedigree really.

Adam Simpson played under Denis Pagan, who played under Ron Barassi, one of Norm Smith's most famous disciples.

Luke Beveridge spent time with Clarko, and before that he played under Stan Alves at St Kilda, who was coached by Ron Barassi.

John Longmire, see Paul Roos.

Mick Malthouse was coached by Allan Jeans AND Tom Hafey.

Mark Thompson, see Kevin Sheedy.

John Worsfold played under Malthouse.

Malcolm Blight played under Barassi.

David Parkin played his entire career under John Kennedy and then took over immediately as Hawthorn coach, so probably an exception there.

But you get the idea.

I'd be surprised if we go another small after choosing to extend Craven. He seems to have shown enough to warrant an extension as opposed to delisting and looking for a small forward in the draft.
We've essentially got two genuine KPFs on the list next year in Hipwood and Day. Morris and hopefully Lloyd can be good counterparts but they're going to struggle if they're giving up 10cm+ and 10kg+ to top flight defenders.
Smith is our ruckman of the future, but the most he'll realistically contribute to the forward line is the same as Oscar early days.

I mostly agree, but we did draft two third tall forwards at once last year. It's possible we like the idea of two young players competing against each other to improve and win a spot. I still think we'll take Gallop or another tall over Unwin though.

None of that is going to change though. Any KPF we draft is probably not going to be ready to play seniors next year.

Can go shorter.

Fages <-------------- Daniher <------------- Sheeds <------------- Hafey.

I have no idea so just thought i would show this

Pick 2 - (bid) Brisbane - Levi Ashcroft - Sandringham
Pick 18 - (bid) Brisbane - Sam Marshall - Sandringham
Pick 55 - Brisbane - Zane Cocharne - Oakleigh
Pick 66 - Brisbane - Ty Gallop (A)- Bris Academy

RMC BEST:
GWV:
J. Faull, R. Unwin, J. Ough, A. Taylor, O. Hannaford, H. Lawson
Oakleigh: J. Smith, Z. Cochrane, T. Gross, F. O’Sullivan, P. Retschko, L. Quaynor

#20 Zane Cochrane
Midfielder | 187cm | 11/07/2006

Stats:
23 disposals, 5 marks, 4 inside 50s, 1 goal

Cochrane was bettered by only Jagga Smith as far as Oakleigh’s ball winners went, gathering 23 touches with strong work both at and away from the contest. He showcased his overhead marking ability and work rate around the ground, getting over the back to add impetus and depth to Oakleigh’s attacks. The midfielder also popped up late in the piece with a clutch set shot goal to give his side one last roll of the dice, with that area of the game being a strength of his.

#20 Zane Cochrane
Midfielder | 187cm | 11/07/2006

Stats:
25 disposals, 6 marks, 5 inside 50s, 1 goal

Cochrane continued his rich vein of form with another prolific midfield outing. He often took the Josh Smillie matchup at stoppages and was strong in the contest, holding his ground and burrowing in hard. Cochrane also got stuck in defensively and looked to use his long kicking to advantage, but could have powered through stoppages more often rather than stepping back to assess his options, or accepting a secondary ball-up. Still, a great showing as Oakleigh’s main man on the inside.

There’s been a push from the #VICBIAS Melbourne media to bid early on Brisbane f/s and academy picks…I think clubs will be less likely to be influenced by this push than punters so I think 2 and 18 is early

Daly said we're only using 3 picks in the draft and even if we decided to pass on Day it's more likely we draft tall with our latter picks having more midfielders in our academy in the next 2 drafts

I reckon that if Levi does go at Pick 2, it'll be because North traded Pick 2 to another club.

I've been wondering, is any other club going to bid on Gallop, and is his development better off specifically on our senior list? Because if not to both questions, we could just sign him to our VFL team and nominate him again next year, allowing us to take another prospect in a deep draft. This is what we did with Kiddy if I'm not mistaken.

Interesting to see Sam Marshall advocating for Queensland juniors to stay in the northern academy pathways, instead of following the Victorian private school scholarship pathway like he did. It probably seemed impossible back in 2021 when he made the move, then we saw academy graduate first round picks Jaspa Fletcher, Jed Walter, Ethan Read, Jake Rogers and Will Graham come through over the following two years. Now it seems far more realistic.

“It was a pretty big move. I didn’t know anyone in Victoria. In the boarding house all the boys are pretty good to me, so it made the transition a bit easier which is good,” Marshall said.

It hasn’t been all smooth sailing, though, and he has a message for other Queensland talents considering the same move.

“I think now there’s definitely a pathway through Queensland, looking at last year all the Gold Coast boys who got picked up, I think four in the first round sort of thing,” Marshall said.

“Back when I decided to move to Melbourne, it seemed like there wasn’t really a pathway.

“I’d probably say keep going through the Queensland pathway because seems like it is definitely improving and seeing players get picked up now, so stick at it.”
