towards the start when he talked about knowing where he sat he decided to help others and bring them into the game so they might get a better look in to the draft - he has a selflessness and leadership qualities that a lot of our boys could seek to emulate
Seeking to give others a better look in the draft so he can go at a later pick and we can cough up less points. ;)

AFL article - Ashcroft talking about wanting to play with his brother as a big factor in nominating Brisbane.

"I've played a few games with him this year at the (Sandringham) Dragons and played with him a lot last year at Brighton Grammar when I was still at school there.

"I love playing footy with him and if he's able to continue on his journey and nominate the Lions as well, that'd be an awesome story and awesome to play with him."

At least that confirms they wanna play together, and an even better sign with potentially signing Levi in a couple of years

Pretty sure the article is written from the Twomey interview on RTTD. Also mentioned his sister playing as well.

How’s Will’s ceiling compared to other top end picks this year? No doubt he is most professional and best at this age, he’ll come in and do well straight away. But how’s the ceiling compared to others? Also what’s his weapon?

Suspect he and Sam Walsh will be the best mids in the comp in a a few years time. Very complete player already and will only get better.

I also think it Cam Rayner can become a 20-25 touch mid he will be a top 10 player in the comp.

I am salivating over the prospect of the Lions having 3 of the top 10 midfielders in the competition ie. Ashcroft, Rayner and McCluggage.

I think we need to have a couple of years of lower expectations, and build our next run around Rayner, Ashcroft and Mcluggage, perhaps with Neale as captain. If you look at Sydney, they've been very smart with bringing fresh players in and still being competitive. It's been a fantastic four years in the home and away seasons, having such good win/loss ratios, but it hasn't gotten us to the big dance, so time to regroup and reset. If that means more losses, I'm prepared for that to have a real crack again.

Guaranteed two terrific players and if Rayner comes on three. But who’s the midfield bull. The Oliver equivalent?

This has been discussed a fair bit on different club boards, and amongst draft watchers.

One of the RMC draft watchers put together a combined 2021 and 2022 top 40, using his top 20 from each year.

And while it doesn’t answer your question, it does give you some idea of the talent spread over the last two years.

I’ve never done something like this but have given it a go today, ranking my top 20 last year against the top 20 I have currently this year. It’s a crazy logjam with the last 10 they are all very close together with nothing splitting them.

My personal opinion is that there are a few players in this draft that might have a higher ceiling than Ashcroft. But question marks on whether all of them reach their ceiling.

Wardlaw
Tsatas
Keeler
Phillipou

And maybe Sheezel.

Thats spicy. You reckon Mrs Ashcroft was also a 'team player'. I look forward to Levi Voss-Ashcroft.

This is pretty disrespectful. Unintentionally, but still, after the events of this week…
