A Cameron replacement in the pipeline too? Oof cool. Now if we can get Oscar Allan to replace Joe, we are set for another 5-10 years of contention.
Logan Morris... Luke Lloyd... Ty Gallop??

Very difficult to trade in elite KPFs, clubs do not want to let them go, we did so bloody well to get Joe.

I know, I know but I can dream. Morris is fantastic, could definitely become the full forward replacement but a forward line of Allen, Morris and Hipwood post Joe would be pretty exciting.

May have stolen their best one?
Let's not get carried away. The kid is still playing QAFL Colts. Most draftable kids his age worth their salt are playing senior QAFL more often than not. If he continues his development next year then I'll be excited as anyone, but for now...

Their best one was AA at the U18 championships as a bottom ager this year.

I’m not sure Troydan played in our academy team this season in either the academy series or CTL. And if he did, he didn’t stand out to anyone.

Certainly didn’t make the QLD U17 team last month from the combined academies.

This article is dated back in June but mentioned we had representatives in Ireland meeting prospects -

he is 18 soon, but is in year 11 and will be with the Academy again in the coming season where I would expect he plays.

His kicking is something to behold, effortless 60m left foot.

Get out and watch him on Saturday at Aspley in the Colts prelim between Sherwood & Morningside where plenty of good players will feature aged 16 and 17 (maybe even one handy 15 year old too ;) )

A quiet 40 disposal and 2 goal game for Levi Ashcroft in Sandy Dragons quarter final v Calder Cannons today.

Sam Marshall second highest ball winner for the Dragons with 25 disposals and a goal.

Edit: Plenty of talk around the Lions, Suns & Blues winning this year via FS/Academy prospects but the Bombers quietly have 2 weapons in Kako & Nguyen themselves.

One last look at James Barrat (2024 draft) and Daniel Annable's (2025 draft) last two games.
With Redlands last second win in the Preliminary Final, Annable will surely line up in the QAFL Grand Final at Brighton Homes Arena next weekend (Sunday).

James Barrat #42 Bendigo (White) from the Coates Talent League Wildcard final a week ago:

Annable - absolute star.

For those playing along at home.

I went and watched this game and Morningside slaughtered the Magpies. Even first 10 minutes and then it was a bloodbath.

The young lad Troydan was completely unsighted. Magpies didn't really have aby good players. Highly rated Harrison up forward was a non factor. Only good players for Sherwood were #85 Romelo, #71 Preston and #24 Slater. There was also a lad with a booming left foot who kicked a set shot from well outside 50, but didn't catch his number.

Morningside on the other hand... Ben Lillico #19 did as he pleased - kid is a star. Mid sized forward called Lay #6 kicked a bag of 7, #13 Tanks was superb through the middle and #11 Seton is impressive. I assume the 15 year old being referred to was Hodge - non factor, but not bad playing u19s at 15..!

Lillico is a talent. He's two years off right?

he is 2025 draft, I think maybe a late birthdate though.

I'd estimate that he had 40+ disposals and kicked 3-4 goals with at least 10 clearances. He was dominant.

Morningside clearly did a better job of managing their young talent towards finals, I went along expecting to see Gilder, Gillet, Bridge, Meekin, Glass playing for Sherwood and none of them were, despite their Seniors not making finals.

Our Father/Son-Academy prospects from the weekends Coates Talent League Quarter Finals:

Levi Ashcroft #3 Sandringham (Dark strip)

Sam Marshall #36 Sandringham

A fair amount of chemistry already in place between these two.

This year must be very fun for Levi and Sam knowing that they can just work hard and enjoy their footy at Sandringham compared to their teammates who must be stressed out of their minds hoping (a) they'll even get picked up and (b) the unknown of where to and / or what path they'll be on such as recruited as a primary / rookie list. No wonder Levi and Sam has such a connection and bodes extremely well for the Lions.

Camporeale twins significantly overrated.
