It’s been mentioned a lot that a lot of those picks were understandable at the time but of course in hindsight are bad. If they wore it on the chin I’d be willing to go with it but to pretend that part of good drafting is to actually not go with the safe pick and to do your homework and develop your players.

We got graded a B by Fox but a D by ESPN for our 2021 draft haul of Wilmot, Lohmann and Tunstill. Doerre on ESPN said ‘the Lions get marked down due to all three of their picks being relative reaches’. Fox said it was a surprised we took Lohmann at the end of the first round but said he was a potential game changer.

You take KM's assessments with a pinch of salt.

Still reckons Casey Voss and Blake Schlensog are up to snuff and that Logan McDonald's a ripper player.

Man the last person I'd pay in attention to is Deorre, aka Knightmare. Probably saw half a game of Lohmann and would never have watched Tunstill.

Remember a bit of the carry on about us passing on the Pendlebury clone that is Matthew Johnson.

Wonder how his crypto plugging career is going.

Was shocked when I read will doesn't get the bonus payments because he is in the two year fixed salary period. Seems wrong.

Not a big loss though, he is flogging his app all over instagram atm. School lunchtime drills. He is going to own the world.

Where was the St kilda president when we were getting reamed by the start up clubs draft hands?

It's always unfair when someone is getting a boost but the silence was deafening back then.

Really peeves me.

I find the whole thing laughable and impossible to take seriously. Most likely because St Kilda are by far the most fundamentally unserious football club in the nation.

Will just have to win again next year so he gets it. And the next two after that so that Levi gets one in his third year.

I’ve often said to people that they are the most irrelevant club in the competition. Perennially in no man’s land; rarely good enough to challenge for anything and never bad enough to actually hit drafts hard and when they’ve had high picks, just botched them.

At this stage, North have pick 2. North also love bidding. Pick 2 is most likely what we have to cough up.
Since one of the reasons Will chose to nominate for us was the ability to play with Levi, it'd be a little ironic if they'd both have ended up at North otherwise. Though I'm sure he's very happy to have a premiership medallion rather than finishing second last.

Inside Trading

Levi Ashcroft has undergone shoulder surgery after finishing his under-18 campaign playing through the injury.
It further enhances his incredibly consistent draft season, which saw him become a three-time premiership winner with the Sandringham Dragons.
Ashcroft will sit out testing at this week's Telstra AFL Draft Combine following the surgery, having played with his shoulder strapped during the year.
The younger brother of brilliant Lion Will, who became the youngest winner of the Norm Smith Medal in the AFL era with his 30-disposal game on Saturday, is expected to garner a father-son bid for the Lions in the opening handful of selections at November's draft.
Levi, two years Will's junior, has been readying himself for the top level and played in the VFL for one game this year, when he polled three votes for the 35-disposal and 11-clearance performance.
The Lions are set to trade pick 18 in this year's draft for extra points to match bids for Ashcroft and Academy talent Sam Marshall. – Callum Twomey

Sounds injury prone
I heard it was from a bar fight while underage drinking.

Massive character issues, red flags bigger than anything in Tianeman Square.

Young Levi looks at the gym and puts on weight according to his mum, where as Will needs to work hard to build up the body. Interesting how different it is even between brothers.

when he jumped over the fence to join his brother, I felt Levi was a bit taller than Will.

Theoretically, we should be considerably stronger next year. Of course that will be negated to some extent by everyone wanting to figure us out and knock us off. Even so, we should consider ourselves favs for the next 2-3 years. The challenge will also be to keep as much of our squad together as possible and that will be tough, we’ve got phenomenal depth, other teams know that now and will come asking to get some of them out.
Interesting on the main board thread we are not seen by many as favourites.I suspect the other clubs may have a different view
