Lions can't use 66 and probably thought they won't wait till live trading draft night to see if they could unload for more points

This is an artificial deadline to trade before list spots/picks are confirmed. Norf can still live-trade pick 2 on the night.

Yep. At the start of the draft we will have 6 open list spots (4 Primary List spots, 2 Rookie List spots) and Picks 27, 34, 42, 43, 49, 58.

Those picks will be spent on Ashcroft/Marshall/Gallop [if we draft him] + trades on draft night. The other 3 list spots will go to Sam Day in the DFA period and Craven/Joyce in the Rookie Draft.

I'm not saying the club doesn't see something there but he would need to massively improve on last season of VFL to seriously demand a spot on our list in years to come

When the club picked him up they said he would take a bit more time.
So it is good that they are prepared to give him a bit more time.
He’s got a beautiful left foot kick on him just needs a bit of time in the gym to build a bit of size.

We're forgoing pick 36 in the rookie draft for him. I'd be curious who you see likely to be taken after that that's shown more than Craven.

I'D personally go one less rookie and look at adding Curtis Taylor as A DFA
