These days there's no difference between senior players and rookie list players beyond some salary cap concessions and the length of the initial contract (if just drafted). Having the maximum number of rookies is normal for contending clubs because it maxes out the amount of player contracts outside the cap. Having the maximum number of senior list players is common for other clubs because they generally want to have the most national draft picks available because the talent is more available earlier, not in the rookie draft.

Berry is pretty impactful in that position if we needed to cover a handful of weeks

And we do have extra coverage for the wing as well. So I wouldnt be overly worried if we had to play Berry in the bigger defensive mid role for a few weeks.

Also we still have Dev right? Thats another who I think could play the bigger body easily. Its probably his best position overall. Just never got much time to play it

Marshall - 22: The hot tip is the Swans will place a bid on the Lions’ academy prospect, who runs all day and finished the season well, including receiving best-on-ground honours in Sandringham’s third-straight Talent League premiership. Brisbane does not really need another midfielder, but Marshall will provide quality depth. If not: Sydney may wait until their next pick to place a bid.

One thing I'd say is that I don't think he will go at #5. #5 gets $5k while #6 gets nothing. So I'd imagine whoever has the #5 will select the player they're actually eligible to get, as a gesture of goodwill towards that young man.

#2 to #4 are in play tho I reckon.

Will be interesting. Carlton went all chips in on pick 3, then bid on a player they can't take, before taking their intended target? We will see...

Might be moot anyway if the bid comes at 2 - Norf have history with us if they are still picking there!

Interesting. I would have thought we'd be looking at talls later on, but clearly we like Unwin's weapons. Speed is something you can't teach.

And maybe this also explains why we kept Craven: we want a fast young pressure forward to develop behind Charlie.
