Who would we trade with to get that many points or more?

Depends where the Ashcroft pick comes. There's some talk that a deal with Collingwood has already been set. Other clubs will come for our picks. We will not be short of offers. The draft pool is considered to be very strong and all clubs want to be involved. IMO

Can’t see Carlton not bidding on Levi. Marshall is anyones guess. Seems like one of the Swans picks at the latest.
I can see Carlton not bidding.

1. We did a pick exchange early on with Brisbane which would have had some sort of agreement re: not bidding (although that was prior to us obtaining pick 3).

2. We have a number of highly rated father sons and academy prospects over the next two years, and I think the club will want to play nice when it comes to bidding so as not seek any unnecessary retribution.

Collingwood can only trade us 52 & 55, as they got 60 & 66 off us, and can’t trade them back.

Plus Collingwood only one future 2nd & 3rd round picks, and can’t trade them.

So the best pick of ours that Collingwood could trade for is pick 43.

Bulldogs could package 35 & 48 together to move up to our 27, giving us an extra 100 points.

Or we could trade 27 or 34 in a break even points trade, and take a future 3rd for next year.

How about giving us on BF your phantom draft top 10.
Work the phones today and overnight and inform us tomorrow ;)
FFS briztoon, he didn't mean it seriously, stop calling me!

A group of taller types is expected to come into contention later on, with Charlie Nicholls and James Barrat a chance if either is available. The likes of Charlie West and Floyd Burmeister could also be in the mix, while if they look for a smaller type then forward Rhys Unwin will be considered if available. They could also look to grab Academy prospect and key forward Ty Gallop late in proceedings. The Lions will select Sam Day as a pre-season draft selection after the delisted Gold Coast big man nominated only for the PSD.
Interesting names. Reading through scouting reports, the tall forwards seem to have different key strengths.

Nicholls has excellent speed for a big man and gets down the ground a quite a bit, but isn't the most physical in marking contests. Might use his speed too much for separation rather than his body, but he can fill out and build up his strength on an AFL list. Has good field kicking, less so at set shots.

West is a strong contested marker. He brings good speed, strength, leap and aggression in contests. He isn't ideal KPF height, being only 194cm, though Charlie Curnow is also the same height, as is Ty Gallop for that matter. Rookie Me Central compares him to Logan Morris if he works on his field kicking and running capacity.

Burmeister is more of a ruck/forward. He has a great leap, having previously been a high jumper, plus he's mobile and aggressive and athletic. He also played on the wing in the CTL GF and kicked two goals. The knock on him is how raw he is. He has the upside but not the demonstrated production to go higher in the draft.

Overall, they all sound like decent prospects to mould, but none of them sound like they're head and shoulders above Gallop. West in particular seems to have a very similar profile to Gallop. Ultimately I think the club will just draft the local boy and give him a chance.

I’ve no idea.

I’m purely a spectator this year, waiting to watch the North & West Coast melts.
Outside of the Lions, I'm generally interested to see whether Adelaide choose the local boy in Draper over one of the Vic boys and secondly whether Eagles got it right by trading out of its early pick and getting local boy Bo Allan or whether MFC or someone else will snag the WA boy before the Eagles get him.

Good to see Twomey in his analysis today that he again maintains that Levi won't be bid on until pick 5 and the other suprise is that he expects Sun's Lombard to get bid on at pick 9, which I think is far earlier than a few predicted only days before. Twomey still thinks Marshall gets to pick 25 too.

SEN's phantom draft today has Levi Ashcroft bid on at pick 4 and Sam Marshall at pick 30:D... their phantom goes to pick 65 and has us picking no one else.
Surely we're getting big Ty Gallop

Will be genuinely stoked tho if Sam got through to the second night of the draft although unlike when Dev was drafted and left devastated on night 1 of the draft, Sam would be chill as.

I have been very high on Draper all year, top 2 in my opinion.

Don’t really rate Allan. Tall and athletic, but doesn’t have a football brain, gets lost playing midfield and so so skills.

Don’t believe for a second WC traded back, with Allan in mind. Do believe WC new list manager/recruiter shat the bed during trade period.

Lombard is up there with Ashcroft as a talent.

They just can't be arsed calculating where our third pick comes in.

Edit- Although what about Craven and Joyce are they upgrades on draft night?
Only Rookie Elevations get done on draft night. We have to redraft Craven & Joyce through the Rookie Draft on Friday, which means Craven & Joyce have to nominate for the National Draft. It also means other clubs can draft them if they want to.

I don't if it's luck but North's list/draft management still blows my mind the last few years. So many high picks but still no decent tall forwards to support Larkey. Taking best available mid everytime just seems so wasteful.

Reckon St Kilda might be worth watching the melts too. Everyone seems to think they need midfield class, but all the top mids are seemingly going just before their picks

I must admit I've always been a bit sceptical of the "draft talent, trade for need" mantra, tho I also admit I know absolutely bugger all about most of the draftees. I just think sometimes you have to draft players you need. I don't think it was an accident we drafted an unusually high number of key position players last year.
