We'll definitely play the Suns within the first 5 rounds on the GC.

And then we'll get the return game at Shitihad, round 18 when we must win (and we'll lose).

AFL are toying with the idea of Richmond playing Gold Coast away in round 1 to capitalise on Hardwicks debut as Suns coach.

I read that in the Herald Sun, unlikely that would occur.

It’s expected Carlton and Richmond will again ask to open the season on a Thursday night.
The round 1 season-starter has traditionally been the domain of the Tigers and Blues.

Outside of the two Covid years when crowds were restricted, the past four round 1 attendances between those two teams have attracted 88,804, 72,179, 85,016 and 91,151 fans.

On the AFL website, it says>>

THE AFL has floated with clubs a Sydney-focused split round to begin the 2024 season, which would see both the Giants and the Swans hosting blockbuster standalone fixtures across an earlier weekend of action.

It's understood the proposed round one fixture, which was distributed to clubs last week but is not final, would feature Greater Western Sydney kicking off the 2024 season against Collingwood on a Saturday night before Sydney plays Melbourne on the Sunday afternoon.

Every other club's season-openers would then be played the following weekend and would likely feature Carlton's annual Thursday night clash against Richmond at the MCG.

Would most likely be round 2.
Don't mind starting the season with 2 away games, if it means more home games to end the season, especially if we're making a late surge for finals.

How about the Gaul of the pies. After their easter Thurs clash v lions they have asked the AFL to fixture them to play GC the week after so they can stay in QLD

Meanwhile their fans are whinging about them playing 3 of 5 interstate to start the season this would make it 4 of 6. They'll lose their minds

That would be great but knowing the AFL they will give them 10 straight in the run home at the G
There has never been a club that has been looked after so damn much in the fixture like the pies have year after year.

McClure reporting that Rd 1 will start a week early with only 4 games.

Rd 3 will have five games with the Rd 1 teams on a bye.

All games in NSW and Qld: GC vs Rich, Brisbane vs Carlton, Sydney vs Collingwood and GWS vs Essendon.

I was under the impression the AFL had moved Richmond home game to Metricon as well, to maximise Gold Coast playing their first finals campaign.

Not sure why they'd bother. Clubs have tried this in the past, and every time they don't ask for it again. Players prefer the extra flight and their own home.

Surely this time around we can get the W vs Gold Coast.

Except that the following week is Gather Round, dumbness never ceases to amaze me in AFL land, as for this splitting of rounds and shit to start the season, looks like a horrible mess. There is already a weeks break before round 1 so why then have a bye one or two weeks later, it's stupid.

We play one of the Adelaide teams twice. Most likely it will be Port and our 1 game against Adelaide will be in SA as well.
AFL will also make sure we play one of the WA teams twice, reckon it will be Freo and we will play WCE.
We will play Swans in Sydney and Gold Coast at the Gold Coast.

I reckon our double up games will be:

Port Adelaide
Fremantle
Sydney
St Kilda
Essendon

Marvel games will be:
Saints
North Melbourne
Dogs

AFL will shaft us, away games against:

Adelaide, Gold Coast, Sydney, Fremantle & Port Adelaide.

Also gather round we will have to play a home game in SA, not sure who but will be a Melbourne based club.

2 back to back trips as well, no doubt.

You have made some rookie errors in your rant.

1. We have 6 double up games
2. We can only have a maximum of 2 doubles up against teams from the middle six not three.

AFL are toying with Dimma playing with his new toys?

Are they going to be playing with each others toys, or use them together?
