My take is if Draper is fit enough to run all day the. Play him predominantly in the ruck.

wright needs to rediscover his 50
Goal season, maybe no Jake helps him
Too. Plus Kako as other more mobile.

wright will pull a good defender off Caddy/Langford allowing them to go to work.

If we lower our eyes can hit Wright up he is a dead eye in front of goals. And hard to stop on the lead.

If Draper was mainly fwd best could hope for is like 20 goal season

Whereas Wright should be 35+

I'd assume they would pull the same defenders generally. Wright might kick more goals but generate far fewer chances than Drapers chaotic movement and tap ons do. I'd far prefer Draper, unless Wright can close the gap on his best and worst games for competing in the contest.

I think Given Cal said if he was available he would have played 15-20 afl games this year in most teams, and we have one of the worst small forwards group in the comp. He is a certainty to be playing round 1, unless he gets injured, or Menzie has been taking brads bins out every week all summer.

I think our 2025 forward line will look something like;-

Perkins Langford SEH (Guelfi)
Jones Caddy Kako (2MP, Gresham)

Langford probably the most reliable of that bunch having kicked 94 goals over the last 2 seasons which is some effort given he spent time in other roles also - we need another 50+ season from him

19 year old Caddy can combine with Jones and if the pair can kick 50+ between them it will take us a long way - they will be ably supported by 2MP who will alternate between ruck & forward

Perkins hopefully has a breakout season after showing glimpses, and SEH & Kako provide X-factor.

Others will rotate through - Guelfi & Gresham are both experienced & Martin can be dangerous forward.

All in all we have enough players to trouble opposition teams but we will need to see a lift from Perkins/Jones & 2MP if we are to push for finals

Unpopular opinion but moving Stringer on is a good move for the football club

Individually, brilliant player. One we probably relied on too much magic to get us over the line. Our (in)ability to cover his goals will be which way we go as a collective.

Can Perkins grow again> Can Gresham be a genuine 30 - 50 goal small forward? What does Caddy look like in year 2 compared to year 4-5? Does Draper work as a fwd and kick 30 goals for the year?

All questions we should have answered as the over reliance on Stringer being our (mostly) number 1 target inside 50 is now gone. Langford being the main peg and being able to continue that form will also be crucial

What makes you think that's unpopular?

Yoda thought it was unpopular because……………um I don’t know!

the carry on about Stringers goals etc.
I think you'll realize there are three camps on the trade. One group are like the ones you described. A second is full of guys like hank who hate him and are over the moon. Then a group who are happy for him to go chase a flag at the Giants and gives us a chance to get a more balanced forward line, which I feel most people are part of.

I just want Hank to know there is a younger Davey.

To be honest without being too technical. I hope that Caddy is that guy we can build a forward line around. If he can do that and Kako just me be Kako. 2mp parked at the front with Jones marking the ball coming in from the wings.

Guelfi Caddy Davey Jr
Kako Draper Langford

Not sure about Draper as a key target forward - he's kicked 36 goals in 5 seasons at the club- an average of just 7.2 goals a year...He provides much more energy and grunt around the ball IMO
I'd have 2MP or Jones in his place with Draper having short stints in the forward line only.

I suspect like most are suggesting - Draper will predominately be forward (with Bryant in the ruck) … but I’m not a fan.

Neither Bryant or Draper are of such quality we can afford both on the same team (too tall / too slow). Draper’s drive gets the gig for mine…

I think there’s overthinking on Bryant and Draper getting out of contract - don’t let that wag the dog on team balance. Crazy to play both when we lack speed, coverage, poor transition (ours or defending).

Would like to see us address a lack of forward pressure by looking at Cox and / or Jones over a second ruck (2MP or Bryant). Even if it’s only when not playing under the roof. Forward pressure won’t just get solved by Kako & ADJnr.
