Though I'm not certain, I'm fairly sure Holly has been running the leadership program far longer than Tredrea has been on the Board.

Footy department has kept Tredrea at arm's length. He's on the footy committee and provides input there, but he has no dealings with the actual operation of the department.
What a shitshow.

I think it’s wrong to say Rozee and Butters aren’t natural leaders, literally every player drafted in the last few years has mentioned how good it is to train with those two so it’s clear they strike a chord with the young players. They look up to them so they are leading by example and hopefully the more vocal assertive form of leadership will develop.

Whilst they definitely aren’t Luke hodge/michael Voss inspirational and assertive on field leaders yet and probably never will be, there aren’t too many that are. Most of the modern day leaders are more reserved in their approach, pendles and bont are fine examples of this but they are well respected and strong leaders still.

I actually think they will grow together to be a great captain and vice captain combo, with rozee being the more level headed mature leader and butters leading with a bit more of the old school mongrel.

Give them time.

Rozee is absolutely not any sort of leader. No traits whatsoever.
I'm still mad about that interview after the semi final. Despite myself I found myself actually liking the club and feeling excited again for a few minutes, until Rozee's self-congratulatory 'mission accomplished' interview immediately brought me right back down to earth.

One player I’m interested to see this year is 6’5” Xavier Walsh , still only 19 but a bit of a man-child , he always appeared to have that streak of “nasty” in him. He doesn’t turn 20 until next September, so he should have a lot of physical development left in him …….. Could he become that hard bodied defender ala Steven May or Jacob Weitering for Port Adelaide, he’s been contracted until the end of 2026 , so someone must have a similar opinion. I am hoping for a breakout season for Xavier.

Rozee and Butters don't naturally come across as born leaders.

There is nothing wrong with that but they will have to learn.

Butters has more leadership traits than Rozee.

At the moment, it is difficult because Hinkley is a poor leader and Koch is also a poor leader.

If we get a coach that demands accountability then it should trickle down into the team.

As some have said, the Hornet seems to be the One.

I am not sure that this is the case. From an ex young player he was described as the most intimidating player in the group in terms of training standards and expectations. There are different styles of leadership and I think he does a lot that we don’t see or expect based on how he comes across in the media.

You've basically said it is wrong to say Rozee and Butters aren't natural leaders and then in the next couple of paragraphs told us why they are not natural leaders.

Ah yes the "we won one of our eight quarters of finals footy played so far, take that hinkley haters"

Absolutely no way anyone could have predicted what would happen next

I've got his back long-term but he needs to have a really good look at himself after that Hawks post-game speech. Absolutely shocking lack of self-awareness or desire to succeed. Its a shame that he's in an environment where not only will it not be brought up with him, but the mediocrity will probably be celebrated. He'll be a good captain long-term, particularly if he can play under a better coach in 2026 and beyond.

No i haven't. What i've basically said is if you are looking for another Luke Hodge or Michael Voss leader you are going to struggle to find them as the modern day leader is much different. I see no reason why Rozee can't develop into a Pendlebury like leader but he won't be a Hodge or Voss.

The most qualified person for any football advice in the club being kept at arms length. We are the Adelaide flipping Crows the way we treat legends that care.

I think we have different versions of logic.

Passing judgement on player leadership styles without first hand knowledge of their interactions with teammates is pointless.
Signed up in 2022 and first post.... Hello friend/relative of Connor.

Your logic is saying that because Rozee and Butters leadership style isn't the same as Luke Hodge or Michael Voss then they are not natural leaders.

Based on that their may not be a single natural leader in the entire AFL currently.

You're the only one that mentioned Hodge and Voss, PB never drew that parallel.

There's a giant chasm between Hodge/Voss and Rozee and it's where most current and former captains sit.

internet forums exist to pass judgement without first hand knowledge

PB drew a parallel that i spent two paragraphs saying that Rozee and Butters weren't natural leaders. I'm not sure where on earth PB got that from.
