Sure, but that isn't another level, rather changing the contribution amongst the players.

What? Of course it's another level. The forward line was strong in 2023 but with Tex likely to decline from a career year, others need to elevate their games.

I wouldn't have thought that's a particularly controversial take.

The mistake you're making here is equating 'another level' to 'more goals'. That is not necessarily the case. A greater spread is what is required.

Pretty sure the likes of Rankine will increase their contribution.

Great. How does that reconcile with spending more time outside the forward 50 which is what we've heard is likely to happen?

No, we just need to maintain being the highest scoring forward line by others improving if Tex declines. We don't need to score more than last season... rather improved defensive pressure & improved midfield are the areas we need improvement from.

Confident Rankine will kick more goals this year as well as attend more CBA'S. Feel free to let me know if this doesn't happen. He looks primed to take his game to a whole new level.

....which is exactly what I suggested, and what you disagreed with initially.

It seems that despite your initial pushback, you're actually in furious agreement with me.

Huh,

No I'm consistent saying our forward line just needs to maintain being the highest scoring team.

I disagreed with you suggesting it needed to go another level when we are already the #1 scoring team.

Again, you seem stuck on the notion that 'going to another level' = 'scoring more goals'.

That's not what was said, and it was subsequently clarified to avoid any confusion at your end. Not only that - your last post that I quoted agreed with exactly what I wrote.

If you were to ask most Crows supporters where we need to go another level out of the forwards, defenders & midfield, hardly anyone would say the forward line as its already one of the best functioning in the AFL.

So, we will agree to disagree on how your phrased that our forward line needs to go another level.

It is difficult to see nmfc finishing better than 17th. Have lost significant experience and leadership, don’t have a ruck or much of a defence and a coach with an interest in part time work.

I realise that I’m conversing with someone that has stated their schadenfreude when watching north recently, but I’m the opposite.

I could be wrong but I’ve been extremely happy with what I’ve seen so far.

Our ruckman is Xerri and he’s dispatched Cameron/cox and Marshall in the pre season. Match high 8 clearances against Marshall, 31 hit outs vs 12, 16 disposals. He’s building nicely.

Backline is concerning but they’ve held up well against talls. I acknowledge one game isn’t definitive but signs are good. Pink and Dawson are looking good, as is Goater.

But the biggest thing is our run. Stephens, fisher, sheezel, Mckercher, Lazzaro and Scott is a lot of running power now. And we were outrunning the saints in the last qrt, who are apparently the fittest team in the comp.

6-10 wins

So, we will agree to disagree on how your phrased that our forward line needs to go another level.

Agree to disagree? You've literally agreed with my point when you said...

No, we just need to maintain being the highest scoring forward line by others improving if Tex declines.

So for a fleeting moment it clicked with you that 'going to another level' doesn't necessarily mean 'kicking more goals', but rather by finding a greater spread, ie. others around Tex stepping up because you can't rely on him replicating a career year at 33/34 years of age.

But then for some reason you've then confused yourself by saying...

We don't need to score more than last season...

Which wasn't what I said, nor what I meant, and which has since been clarified a number of times, because you seemed to be confused by the notion of 'improvement' not necessarily meaning 'scoring more'.

Great, for your sake I hope he does. He's one that very clearly needs to in order for the Crows to take the next step. Along with the likes of Rachele, Fogarty and Thilthorpe.

Will be interesting to see what happens. Will be hoping the best for Toby Pink and Dyl Stephens.

So Jeremias are you quietly confident about the Blues or on the bathwater like a few of your comrades?

Not relevant to the discussion, but what's the difference in classification between 'quietly confident' and 'on the bathwater'?

Oh dear. You seem more in the quietly confident camp than in with those metaphorically marching around Princes Park waving the 2024 Pennant.

What I got was deflection.

You do seem to struggle with comprehension, so I'll make it as clear as I can for you.

Blues a decent chance to finish in the top 4, but with the competition very even, it won't take much to shuffle a few spots either way.
