To the eternal regret of Quain Kornes key forwards are going to keep getting long, long extensions.

When the Dogs sign up Darcy long-term which is paying $1.01 to happen as his father is STILL A CLUB DIRECTOR they'll have Naughton signed up to 2032, Jamarra to 2026, and I'd guess Darcy signs until Tassie comes into the comp or his free agency eligibility.

That's the other bit of urgency for us to attract one, gotta get in before Tassie shows up throwing silly money around.
Contracts just pieces of paper.

I feel that if the club is not looking at anyone other than, or younger than Day, it really makes me feel we have someone on the hook for the end of next year.

We don’t want to get caught with someone who is going to take money out of the cap for a Longer period of time.
If we are trying to tempt a Kreuger or Weideman to leave VIC to come up here for 1 year, we are probably kidding ourselves.
Probably the case, yes. I wonder who else is an option and already in Queensland if Day falls through for whatever reason. Casboult is without a contract too I think, and Hugh Dixon kicked 43 for Southport this year and is only 25.

Casboult is probably officially retired, so can't get picked up till mid season at the earliest

Could we draft Liam McBean as a SSP player
Got delisted so could sign anywhere as a DFA at whenever he wants if he was interested.

Hawks had next to no injuries this year. They were towards the top of the champion data injury ladder. So if that reverts to the average they may struggle.

They will also play the top sides more often in the home stretch rather than the lower-ranked sides…like Collingwood this year, they might struggle with that

Quain just has big extension anxiety ;)

He can’t even get on the ground, let alone kick goals. We will be paying him to assist in the rehab room putting weights away after each session.

He played a lot of vfl games last season which means he was available for selection…that is literally all we need him to do: be available on the handful of occasions that we might need him…that’s the difference between giving up assets for a first-22 player vs giving up nothing for a depth guy 🤷‍♂️

Don't quite get the knock on Day when the club had extremely limited resources to facilitate a trade with a name player when none were OOC and you are asking a player (doesn't where that player is located in Australia) to basically uproot their life for likely a one year deal and Day is already based in SEQ.

Day just makes sense, can't believe anyone can't see it any differently.

💯

Reckon this will be less of an issue than you think lol.

If I was a player, there's not enough money in the world for me to live in & play for Tasmania.

Sooooo, the weather is shit. Yes, even shitter than Geelong, Adelaide or Melbourne. There's nothing to do aside from knit double headed beanies. And you're going to lose pretty much every game for the first three seasons.......

Or you could go to the Lions.........Half the money, triple the fun & all the success......

Trying to come up with a 2025 team and I don't see where Day fits other than backup. It is one of the bolded guys that would come out for Day or any other tall forward and I don't see based on history, both recent and past any of those guys coming out without an injury for a third tall. I know previously it has been our preferred method, though when Gunston was injured we played with two.

Hippy could play some ruck, I did notice he did a small amount in the GF. We obviously need some KPF cover though so Day makes sense.

I think Smith will play because there is no way the Lions will throw Hippy in the ruck…he will be injured in 5 minutes and is to valuable as a roaming, link-up forward to risk him

Oh I agree - but Tassie will be used by every player agent to bid up salaries.

Don't be so sure.

This is completely true. One of the key reasons I moved from Hobart to Sydney

There's nothing to do aside from knit double headed beanies.
This is completely incorrect. One of the amazing things I found about moving from Hobart to Sydney was that there wasn't more "stuff" on in Sydney, all the time, with a population of 5 million compared to only 200,000. Hobart absolutely fights miles out of its weight division for its ability to hold events relative to its size and population.

At this point in time, I'm supporting giving Henry Smith the first go with Day as back up in reserves if required.

Yep, I reckon that’s what the club is thinking too…playing Fort as a ruck/forward might even be ahead of playing Day…I think Sam will be our injury cover tbh

Fort's never let us down when he's been called up.

Whether he has what it takes to play a more rounded role is problematic but one thing you know is he wouldn't completely cough it up.

It was a canny recruiting effort to get hold of him and he seems happy here despite not playing a lot of Senior games.
