Funniest thing is that McClure keeps pushing this and reporting more detail out of Clarry's camp when I'm pretty certain nothing is going to happen this year.

Will be 3 years running of Clarry traid bullshit this time next year.

But Geelong has already shown him the prime ocean front block of land complete with buried drums of cash that he can buy for $1

I wonder how much is actually true, and how much of it is to get some clickbait happening during a relatively dull trade period to date.

If the AFL want to make the event more of a spectacle, they might have to reconsider shortening the period so all deals don't get done on the last day of a two week block.

Hawthorn trading out pick 14 because they were fed up with West Coast's demands for Barass is so funny. Reminds me of when we traded our first round pick in 2022 for points and dogs fans had an aneuryism lol.
TBH I hope they miss out on Barrass now and West Coast hold their ground.
He is still contracted so hold him to his contract.

Before trade period our picks were 20, 59 & 70 total points = 1109
At present we have 32, 34, 42, 43, 45, 60, 66 = 2472 but lost a future second presently pick 36 or 317 points next year.
So, we gained 1363 so far this year but lose 316 next year off our 1st round pick from what i can gather.

Then we have Sharp and Dev being possible trades to come.
Good to see we got some stuff done Friday.
Still have till next Wednesday 16th at 7.30pm AEDT. Free agency closes today though

Pi K 40 for Sharp seems about right and future 3rd for Dev

Sharp to Melbourne might involve a shuffle of our junk picks with Melbournes junk picks

I deeply resent this talk of rorts. I am infuriated by the discussion that we may in some way be "rorting".

This system, designed and run by the all knowing and all powerful AFL is fair, equitable, balanced and unmatched in its even handedness. It's ability to provide a level playing field is unparalleled.

I would suggest full board bans for posters who continue to publish lies, fake news and untruths. It is unacceptable to allow these sorts of rumours and allegations to go unchecked.

I believe that's exactly how we are going to operate for finding points to be honest.

I believe our trade currency will come from eventual best 22 player movements where the list starts squeezing in the upcoming years. Levi, Marshall, Annable and more would mean someone gets pushed out on the other side.

So we are premiers and feeder club at the same time.

Way to go lions. Love it.

Happy to keep Prior. If we trade out all of Sharp, Prior, and Dev we have certainly impacted our depth and set up a bit of a list re-fresh. I think all of these players have been excellent team players and more than capable of playing 1sts for us or elsewhere...
Interesting one as Lyons and Madden gone as well so a bit of mature depth.
If you look at our GF side
We have ins Coleman, McCarthy and Oscar you push into 22
Then Doodee you want to fit in and possibly Dizzy
Add to Levi and Marshall.
6-7 spots could change we only lost Joe.. So their be guys with a Premiership medal who could become depth

I do agree. Just seems too good to be true that they give us all those points and then don't take him at 1
They won't. They're not giving us points, they've traded out a bunch of junk picks they likely wouldn't have used for a pick they will use. Picks and points don't mean the same to everyone, and there's a reason top-20 picks are more valuable than the points assigned to them.

There's no reason for Richmond to bid on Levi. It's a good draft... it's not the same as last year where Harley Reid was an absolute clear standard out.

St Kilda president Fred Bassat must be shaking in anger at the effectiveness of our rorts.

Top Dog Bassat can rest easy, knowing he is a champion defender of the vaunted halls of moral high ground.

I might also reflect on a certain Riewoldt, who from memory was part of a catchment area back in the day, which was within the claws of a recent threepeat premier......and weren't the rules changed prior to that specific draft, ensuring that a club bearing an uncanny resemblance to St Kilda were the beneficiaries?

Hmmm. Didn't think we'd actually need to trade out a future 2. Would have liked to have kept a full set of picks for next year for Annable because it is going to be so much harder to match a bid.
Not really a concern for mine. Next year pick 40 is worth 238 points compared to 429 points this year. Plus we can trade picks 2 years ahead, so can keep rolling them forward until we have that year where we don't have a top prospect.
...We're probably banking insurance for this year to account for Levi. As soon as we know the points we need to match for Levi if we've got excess points you can imagine we'll trade back out if we have excess points.

McLachlan is contracted for 2025 already.

I would think so. We picked them for a reason.
Ah right just reading now didn't realise he was 2025, thank for that.

Re the others though, mid season pick-ups can also be the first de-listed if they don't come on. From reading the tea leaves we seem relatively happy with Beecken, Craven might be the one who has to wait on who we trade out

Actually I think they traded 14 out so they get to death-ride Carlton all next season. Talk about low hanging fruit!
(I do love me a good death-ride!).
