Nobody can judge to that degree. We'll get a good prospect with our 1st pick but we need to do something to get another one in.

No-one gives away their good picks unless you have something they want. We are at the point of having cut so much fat that we are running bone. We wouldn't want to get any worse than we are now or we'll start to get very North Melbourne.

We are a bottom 4 list on paper and we have been able to stay mid table because we run lean. We've got to the point where the talent we have tips into uncompetitive with our depth tested.

Essendon and the Dogs both finished outside the 8 and topped up when down, both have better lists than us. We need to nail the FRDP and find some under-utilised talent on the cheap.

Even someone like Jarrod Lyons for a year or two while Windy types develop and he'd step out just at the right time for who ever we draft to step up.

Our problem is we lack capital ATM and you said only days ago that we also don't have any fat to trim. Id rather just get 2 good mids through the draft and look at a good player to come in via FA. I've said l think Jarrod Berry fits our needs and granted he's no star but he's a big unit and is at least quality enough to improve us.
We have enough runners, forwards and defenders on the list already. All in on mids. Draft, FA, trade, whatever.

I’m still waiting for Gubby Allan to do something. He’s been at the saints (in some capacity) for a few years now, and yet to land us a ‘big fish’.

Jordan Dawson was already doing freakish things but was thrown between HB and wing etc so struggled to settle. He was a great pick up. They got lucky with him and Rankine wanting back home.

Jagga Smith, Draper and Moraes look like the ones that will fall around our pick. All look good.

Moraes an interesting one. Brazilian and exciting round goals. Probably a bit too outside for our needs but might fall where we sit. Smith looks the pick of them still. Smillie or O'sullivan look ideal but unless our season properly shits out, we won't get them.

I know some will strongly disagree, but I think if we can find a taker, we move Hill on, dump that money into overpaying a FA or 2, so many nothing disposals where he gets the ball takes 3 steps and kicks long to contest, or completely ignores the easy 20m hit up to a free teammate and bombs away to a contest, or sags off his opponent and allows an uncontested mark in fwd 50. I'm not sure what Hill's value is.

Seriously overpay LDU and McCluggage to get them.

Hill is taking a significant pay cut from the salary we paid to get him over. He has also been one of our best this year, granted his game yesterday was poor.

One also cannot underestimate the influence he has on our young group, especially the indigenous kids. The guy is the glue keeping them all together and should be in our leadership group.

For me, Brad Hill is almost as untouchable as anyone on our list.

Best finish now 15, 16 and push for Battle first rounder. Top end stacked with good mids.
We've got huge holes to fill and were no where near the top. Better hit top of the draft next couple years.
Biggest mistake is thinking this list is better than it actually is. We need to play the long game here.

There's got to be another type like that out there who isn't getting settled midfield time that we could target.

Jaxon Binns, Braeden Campbell are too good to play VFL. Riley Garcia from the Dogs played midfield in the VFL and looked a gun. A couple of decent VFL players out there too. I liked Callum Brown from the Box Hill Hawks. He's the ex Pie that's dad is Gavin Brown.

GWS have a kid called Fahey who is a star HB wing held out by Ash and Whitfield types. Could send Sincs on ball.

Donovan Toohey from Coburg looks good. Fairlie and Vallesaris too. Will Fordham is still a gun but might be too old now.
