Best finish now 15, 16 and push for Battle first rounder. Top end stacked with good mids.
We've got huge holes to fill and were no where near the top. Better hit top of the draft next couple years.
Biggest mistake is thinking this list is better than it actually is. We need to play the long game here.

We can't afford to shed talent unless we are bottoming out. Battle needs to be resigned.

Hill is taking a significant pay cut from the salary we paid to get him over. He has also been one of our best this year, granted his game yesterday was poor.

One also cannot underestimate the influence he has on our young group, especially the indigenous kids. The guy is the glue keeping them all together and should be in our leadership group.

For me, Brad Hill is almost as untouchable as anyone on our list.

Him and Wood, get rid of either and watch the young guys en mass lose their cool. They've both been so great for so many of the kids we have since popping over, it's almost like the TC best clubman spread with their impacts.

He just butchers the ball going forward though.

Kicks sky balls or just plays on without looking and then dumps it long. He isn't damaging at all

There was a stat by Champion data

Brad Hill has one of the worst kick retention ratings in the AFL for kicks made under pressure but when under no pressure he was number 1 in the league.

We need to find a way to get him into open space more often.

I think we are bottoming out

Doubt it. We haven't had a midfield or forward line. Bottoming out isn't a great idea these days. Adelaide and Hawks kept older players around to transition into youth and it worked better.

We need to see what the side looks like with a decent midfield. At the moment we are awful and nearly every player has gone backwards while the midfield is down. Losing Crouch hurt our competitiveness.

Rohan Connoly on the glaring problem with Ross Lyon coached teams.

"OK, this needs to be said. I’ve got nothing against Ross Lyon at all, his footy knowledge and nous is first class, and he was so close to a triple premiership coach it must be gut-wrenching. But you simply can’t win a flag without being able to score, and his teams consistently don’t.

He’s had 14 completed seasons as a coach with St Kilda and Fremantle. In that time, just ONCE (2009 when Saints were runners-up) have his teams ranked any higher than seventh for points scored (whilst NINE times his teams have been ranked top six for fewest points conceded). That gives you a fair idea where his priorities are.

But in the 21st century, we’ve had 24 premierships. And just THREE times has a team ranking lower than sixth for points scored won a flag. You HAVE to be able to score at least respectably to be in the ball game. And Lyon's sides STILL don't.

Last year, St Kilda (while No.1 in the comp for fewest points against) was a dismal 15th for points scored. Even this season the Saints are going OK defensively (6th before this round for fewest points against). But points scored? A lowly 14th.

You can’t return this sort of discrepancy between attack and defence over that long a period and be believed when you say you really value attacking football and scoring. He doesn't. And the numbers simply don’t stack up. He has to change."

Won't beat west coast in Perth in 2 weeks on current form. Fair chance they finish above us on the ladder now. Hawks also look like a better side then us. Genuine chance of finishing 3rd last only ahead of north and the tigers. Hopefully Richmond or north take a key position player at pick 1/2 and leave us the best of the rest bar smillie.

Looking at this year's draft prospects and all the decent mids are listed as short arses ... 183cm and under

Is this years draft supposed to be any good?
Supposed to be a good midfield draft.. top 10 or something are gun mids

Can’t help but feel a bit sorry for Zak Jones. Played half back for a grand final side, comes to us to develop as a midfielder and has just been injury riddled and hasn’t clicked.

Now he’s in absolute no-man’s land and can’t move back to his best position because we’re stocked there. Can’t see him getting resigned at year’s end and not sure where his careers goes, hope he gets another shot.

If they see Keeler & Ari coming on then losing Battle is short term pain for long term gain.

Snag a 2nd top ten pick & add two elite midfield talents & we’re away.

Rubbish

Hilly has been fantastic this year… would be top 3 B&F right now.

I don't want Keeler in D50 long term, I want him and Ming in F50 so we be utterly dominant with any sort of supply since we have literally always failed at the HFF post Roo as no one presents at anything and you then have 2x mobile agile 2m+ individuals who started as forwards to use...

Find a KPD instead of trying to convert, Battle is just, well, as his name implies, the man goes to war when over that white line. Resting ruck forward is a completely different beast nuance wise.

If Keeler stays forward, then we're way too heavy on key forwards. We have to commit to 2 or 3 and then look at moving on a few others or we convert them to defenders. Personally, I'd like to see Max have a stint at CHB and Caminiti given the keys to the forwardline in the interim. Caminiti is a shoe in for 2 goals a game as it stands and he probably could up that number given the chances he's had.

If we do delist Jones he is the sort of senior player who might suit another club. Crikey if Billings to can get a game weekly Zak deserves a go somewhere.

I think Zak will hang the boots up when that happens. I think it's probably time for Him, Seb and Membrey to move on.

We can't possibly continue to play as poorly as we currently are. I suspect we'll have a run where we win a few and end up above those genuine cellar dwellers. I'm guessing pick 5 to 7 is where we will land.

yes it will be just like us to be out of finals contention, then do ourselves out of a prize pick by getting on a roll, lets do something right and aim for pick 4 now, crows will go on a romp, hawks or eagles should finish above us,im seeing pick 4 as fair compensation for the crap i am endured to watch
