I think "JL isnt playing kids" narrative is getting a bit overblown. MJ has been in and around the team for a month, Amiss is our number 1 KPF and Ras has made his way into the team. Sturt has also been playing. Draper was 1st emergency at one stage.makes you wonder why JLo seems to be agonising over who to play. The CEO has basically come out and stated that 2023 is a writeoff and that is ok and doesn't change the plan. So just put games into the guys you think have the best chance to take us forward towards 2025 regardless of the minor or neglible effort it may have on game days this year. If between Sturt and banfield, play Sturt. He has a potentially higher ceiling. Get games into Ras as well as MJ. Reward Treacy with a run of games. Rest up Chapman and Freddie so we don't minor injuries into long term ones. Put Fyfe back into the middle to take the pressure off Brayshaw's body and push him into wing to see how he goes.
I hope Garlick's comments have the effect of freeing up JLo and not this conservative desperation to win this week with experienced guys with well known ceilings, over young talent that would do better to get games into them for the long term benefit.
Walker's given grace to muff it up here and there cause we know as he matures he won't get any slower or weaker and will be a massive weapon. Sturt and Treacy and Ras and MJ should be allowed the same.

I think it's proven just dumping a bunch of kids into an AFL team for the sake of it doesnt work for their development or the squad. Happy for the young talent to continue to be slowly introduced and prioritised over the year
Yup I agree. The only one not getting games is Treacy and the guys in front of him are all young too.I think "JL isnt playing kids" narrative is getting a bit overblown. I'd also add that I think it will be really good for Treacy to come into the team with confidence sky high after several weeks of dominating WAFL. The game last weekend was a good start, I'm happy for him to come in this week but he'll probably be better off if he comes in after a month of games at least that level.Yup I agree. Not sure I’d say dominating last few weeks. The game against SF he only had 6 touches. He was good against Perth - more ruck and around the ground. 17 touches, 9 marks, 11 hit outs and 1 goal. Against East Perth it was the 10 marks and equal team high 5 i50’s. From my memory each of i50 were quality. His marks up the ground we’re quality and his general field disposal was quality.I'd also add that I think it will be really good for Treacy to come into the team with confidence sky high after several weeks of dominating WAFL. My post was probably a bit confusing in context but I agree with everything you said, last week was what he needs to set as the benchmark for a month then he has to come inNot sure I’d say dominating last few weeks. You could argue Corbett is closer virtue of his emergency selection and sub the week before.
They obviously rate Treacy higher given his selection on field for round 1. He sucked bad in round 1. The game he played on the weekend for mine is what Freo need and I would have him leapfrog Corbett. But perhaps Corbett is fighting for a position with Banfield. If that is the case then Corbett please.
Treacy will be 100% selected if Darcy is out injured. Given the injury cloud Treacy will be selected in the 26 regardless.
He should be thankful anyone who sleeps with a mates missus/wife behind the mates back is a true Grub.JFC Garry Lyon banging on about how late it is like he wants to go home to his snug little bed.
You’re in a privileged position in the footy media and so many people would give their eye teeth to have what you have. Don’t be a miserable smug campaigner /rant
Random thought and not sure where to post it.
Has anyone thought what happens to the “Gather Round” with 19 teams? My first thought is the AFL will pull us aside and tell us they like us but it would be best if we let the cool kids play and just sit the round out.
I suppose if they just gave us 4 points, I would be too.TBH, I'm cool with that.
One team will probably play twice, like Wednesday night and then following Monday or something like thatRandom thought and not sure where to post it.

Yeah you’re probably right. Doesn’t fit the narrative I was constructing though! One team will probably play twice, like Wednesday night and then following Monday or something like that
