I can’t see how anyone in their right mind could say Nisbett has/is doing a good job. Maybe Suma is sucking up to stay in favor with the WAFC/Eagles mafia.
And right on cue...

Interesting. Is that stat based? Cox was poor.
Was not poor. Was not good, but 31, 13 marks (5 intercept), 9 intercept posessions, 7 spoils means he was doing a lot right. But extremely slow to react on turnover and was killed 1v1 after the first quarter. An average game from him.

But having JUH in the team and his direct opponent is funny.

The amount of times I've seen Luke Ryan in some of these teams and he hasn't played overly well...

It's all stat based. 31 disposals and 13 marks looks great but doesn't say how long he took to dispose of the ball and/or what his opponent has done.

You've got to have a decent game to get those stats but they'd be better players almost every week.

You're right. Cox played a very Ryan type of game. But some people on this board seem convinced that Ryan has had a good season when he puts up games like that.

Might be controversial, but considering the talent and draft capital we have in the backline, I've been a bit disappointed in their overall performance this year.

A combination of poor one on one defending, lack of run and dash off halfback, lack of intercept marking and some risk-averse kicking has left me wondering at times.

Yeah you expect more from both mid and defensive lines when the vast majority of your investment is there.

Especially after last season, arguably the best in the league. The midfield regressing and putting more pressure on them is one thing, but even then the individual performances from guys like Pearce and Cox have regressed massively in almost every aspect. Clark and Walker aren't attacking like they were last season, Young is a bit hot and cold, and not having as much impact as he did last year either. I think Ryan has been better than last year, but I really didnt rate him last year either.

Since we let Logue go, and with Chapman out, there isn’t a lot of draft capital in the backline we are playing.
Young 7
Clark 15 (we paid about pick 20)
Pearce 37
Cox 41
Walker 50
Ryan 66
Hughes Rookie pick 13

So. Say Adelaide lose doedee this year, and throw a monster offer at Cox. Do we take it and try to turn into Taylor or Barrass?
Yeah This…
I would let Cox go in a heartbeat if it could get us Taylor. He’s the best defender in the comp imo.
Plus a move like this would have the added advantage in that IF we got Taylor it would most likely be through free agency , meaning any trade capital we got from cox could be used to bolster the forward line
