2024 Membership - New record!

I am on auto renewal and have been for over 10 years. Each year i get an email (or previously a letter) saying what the memberships entail how much they are going to cost and when the first payment is to be deducted, usually end of Oct.

Do you guys with this issue not get some correspondence from the club?
Seems strange.
I’ve always paid the full amount up front over the phone. That’s how I know I haven’t accidentally selected an auto renewal option. They have my correct email and my phone number. The amount was deducted without any warning.

It has happened to me today. It happened a few seasons and rang it stopped until this season. I will ring them tomorrow and will not ask for a refund. I am not happy they did it but can afford it. I think it is a deliberate ploy not a mistake and if proven a deliberate action they would be in big trouble with consumer affairs.

I received an email from the club on 4th October regarding the upcoming payment. It had a link to the invoice and the breakdown of my membership package.

Despite removing my credit card details from my profile I have still been charged. Pretty ordinary behaviour.

When I went down to the club and paid my membership last week and spoke about the auto pay cash grab I got the impression that it wasn't the club but Ticketmaster (or Ticketek which ever one) that they contract the work to, they store the credit card details on their system as well and keep putting everyone on auto pay.

Got my refund. Was on hold for 10 minutes before finally getting through. The operator said they are getting a lot of calls about this.
Stupid thing is that membership renewals aren't due until late December each year but the ticketing agent like to try and get money out of people 2 months earlier.

Not entirely stupid. By my calculations they could make about $150,000 on the short term money market just by bringing it forward 2 months. I don't mind if it's the club making that extra money but I would be annoyed if it's the ticketing agent.

It's just another incentive for them to push the auto-rollover thing by the end of October.

The date should always be after the fixture release.

Last season I bought a 6 Game General Admission membership because of uncertainties with my ability to attend. On the website today, 3 and 9 game packages are available but there is no link to a 6 game package. I rang the club and they didn't even know that there'd been an oversight. They are looking into it. Another example of poor organisation?

Just wait for the pre season SEN deals.

Each year supporters bemoan being shafted when all clubs add extra home and away games to deals for little cost.
If you're an EJ Whitten Social Club member you have to pay your membership before a cut-off date. Not sure exactly when but well before pre-season deals.

I’m an interstate member, asked to be taken of auto renewal 2 years back which worked. This year I did get an email which also told me they would auto deduct on October 30. For be it was ok, BUT did not ever sign up for auto renewal.

Just checked my account and got charged for a membership I didn't order. I cancelled the auto renew last season and paid up front.

Feels like there is an issue like this each year.

These deals are no good if you want same seats as last year as there is also a cut off date to keep same seats.
PS. If i remember correctly these SEN discount memberships are for fairly basic memberships.

Doing my annual going through of boxes. ( Never seem to throw anything out, just go through the box, put the stuff back and say I will throw it out next year)
Found the Footscray Bulldogs membership application form for season 1997.
Football membership adult 11 games - $86
Social Club adult membership- $205
Annual reserved seating
Under cover - $105
Open air seating - $90
Coterie Packages
Bulldog Kennel - $260

With this damned auto renewal I have no idea what I pay now.

I am on the auto renewal but get an email with an invoice for the Top Dogs package I get so I know what I'm paying.

People complain about price increases, but I notice that the Top Dogs has only increased by just under $200 in 26 years.

What are the benefits of Social Club besides the Grand Final tickets?
Lounge entry on game day. You get some speeches by players or management. It used to be connected to the past players lounge at Marvel and if you are mates with any past players who are there, they'll get you in and you can schmooze with some legends. It can be easier to get a drink and food in there than on the concourse. Table seating for up to 12 people too.

It’s been a while since the social club got any speeches of note.
