Spoke with my contact at the club.

Membership isn't tracking well compared to this time last year and year before. Numbers are noticeably down.

I wonder why...
Hopefully not by too much, but by enough to show the club supporters aren't happy with just rolling on season to season with underperforming performances.

I never opted for the membership roll over yet every year I get an email saying that my membership will roll over and I call the club to get removed from it and they confirm I've been removed yet come the next year I'm back on it. To fix the problem I've got the cash out of the bank and I'll head down to the club to pay it in $20 notes, lets see them put me on the rollover membership without credit card details (my card has just expired and I have a new one so the can't use those details anymore)
Yes I also told them I’d pay by cash if I had to.
 
You'd think when you're paying a 4 figure amount across multiple memberships they'd get your details right in the invoice email sent this morning - especially when none of then have changed in years.
1 reserved seat missing.
1 full membership now magically only a 6 game membership.
At least they got my free social club for being a 50 year member right, I suppose. 🤪

Oh well, onto the membership dept by phone... again.

You posted this in the 2023 Membership thread. Is it resolved?

My dealings with the club membership dept (Brandon, I think) have been very good the past few years.
 
Just tried to contact the membership department about my 2024 membership. After a long time on hold and endless listening to the club song on high rotation I gave up. No information on how long I will be on hold, no information at all not even a “your call is important to us “. Very disappointing and amateurish.

Valid points, and not hard to address with current technology, I agree.

In my experience, the phone was answered after only 4-5 renditions of the song, but if any small business can utilise the call queue updates, I would expect a multi-million dollar organisation could invest in one.

Remember they do have other work to do like selling cheap electricity deals and health insurance, it does get busy in the call centre :cool:
 
Nothing about Pet Memberships on the site, yet my 2024 invoice has it included. Might give them a ring. Zsa Zsa is a tad concerned.

I rang the club and after 5 Sons of the West songs, someone answered. There is a Pet Membership, though it's not shown on the site as of yet. Kept the automatic renewal for another year. My Covid rebate cheque from Medibank will cover the cost.

Went down to the club today to sort out my membership and told them how crap the Ticketmaster web site was and they agreed. Also got removed from the annual payment gimmick again (not that it mattered as my card had expired) and paid in cash which they were happy to accept and could understand why I wanted to pay that way.

I rang up today, 10 minutes on hold listening to Sons of The West (and singing along).

I’m the latest victim of the auto renew scandal. I 100% know I didn’t sign up for that as I’ve previously bought my memberships over the phone.

It’s a bit unsettling having $1150 taken from your bank with zero warning. I’m tempted to call and complain but it feels like a waste of time and I won’t get anything for it.

Commiserations.

I'm telling them they have demonstrated that they can't be trusted with my credit card details, so they won't be getting them. If enough people tell them that maybe the penny might drop?

I'll ask them if I can do a direct deposit to their account. If not, they'll have to wait until I can call in with some cash. Next time I'll be in Melbourne will be February so it won't be any time soon.

I am on auto renewal and have been for over 10 years. Each year i get an email (or previously a letter) saying what the memberships entail how much they are going to cost and when the first payment is to be deducted, usually end of Oct.

Do you guys with this issue not get some correspondence from the club?
Seems strange.

Agreed. I had $30 taken out of my account and entered cardiac arrest

Agreed. I’ve never had an issue with it and the club has always been transparent with their correspondence.

I’m not saying other people haven’t had issues but I’d say there would be some out of date email addresses and the like causing issues. These things are serviced on mass data for 10’s of 1000’s of members. There’s bound to be some slip through the cracks.
 
I’ve been a Bulldog for Life with 10 monthly payments for years, so I know what and when to expect it.
However a few years back I won a 3 game membership from a Mars bar 🤪, I thought it would be handy to take another person to a game.
Next season sure enough there were my usual memberships on the invoice plus a 3 game membership. I called the club and they removed it, but it was annoying that they linked a previously free membership to my a/c and just assumed that I’d retain it ongoing.
