If they wanted to be fair they could allocate all those good pink seats from row M back that are on the wing then they wouldn’t piss off existing seat holders - but they have refused to do this despite acknowledging the issues.
That's it in a nutshell.

The smart - and fair - way to do this is to recognise, before you send out stupid comms as if you're offering a different brand of oat milk than usual, rather than a different membership is to find the best possible seats for all of these members first, allocate and pre offer them noting the change but that you've been given the best available seats before anyone has even had a chance to notice the difference. This is not how you manage change and certainly not with your best paying customers.

The club already sells 4 games to Hobart.
But for 7 lousy games North can’t make the best seats in the stadium available to its members?

What a cop out
My wife will be wrapped to be honest. For over 2 decades I've not even considered moving away from Melbourne or Victoria because I love going to the football. Without game day there's diminishing reason to stay.

Ha this mirrors my life exactly.

I travelled into the MCG last night near some Collingwood supporters and one of them was saying he had the top tier membership and when the offers were changed recently the club called everyone individually (him and all the others he knows at least) to see what they wanted to do.
At North Melbourne we only call prior to selling more home games - and that's just to make sure donations get in the door before the announcement comes out.

Exactly - I’m not getting to a game 3 hours early to reserve 11 seats that’s why I have an allocated seat. The membership manager said I should just swap to the unallocated membership. Well people work have sport etc and arrive close to game time - why should I change.
FMD.

This is the problem with having services delivered by people that have zero lived experience for those who use the services. Entirely on the club hierarchy though - who no doubt enjoy lovely seats on the day, access to the rooms and the privilege of swanning around.

Not even sure if I'm impacted yet but even if I'm not - by the sheer luck of being an aisle or so over if it occurs - this is such poor form and makes me beyond angry. This club continues down it's path of 20 years of treating game attending members as a wallet that sometimes inconveniences them by not being happy with the crumbs. Every year membership surveys go out where they look for responses to questions that they've already decided the answers. Every year they ignore repeated requests to provide a decent matchday service and replacement options that are viable and vaguely equivalent to home games. I have to admit I didn't think they'd achieve that by just making home reserved games as shit to attend as replacement games. Guess you gotta be careful what you wish for when the genie pops out.

Apparently the media have gotten wind of this issue Chadwiko

Not sure if they’ve been contacted directly or if they’ve been following this thread.
Either way questions are now being put directly to the club and expect an article to follow.

Let’s see what happens.

The club should get absolutely baked for this.

Not even a peep prior to dropping this shit sandwich, after four years of some of the most diabolically shit on field efforts this club has seen.

And it’s the highest paying members that are having to chow down.

GAGF.

Anyone running with it yet?

Yup, I've been in contact with a reporter.

They've found some very interesting answers when they looked into this issue:

"The AFL are adamant it has nothing to do with them. This would be a club decision, not the AFL’s. The person I just spoke to said his best guess was that North plans to use the new function space in that area, and that would mean that seating can’t be available. But again, that’s a club call.

The AFL spokesperson asked their team and they were adamant there is no new seating being offered from the AFL, and that this had nothing to do with them, beyond the redevelopment offering new function options, which North appears to allude to in that email".

The feeling of betrayal is rising...

If this is close to true / then I am more than pissed off - clearly it appears the club has access to my old seats and has chosen to take them off me. My email to the CEO hasn’t held back after this. This now directly impacts the integrity of the club. I will be calling on Monday and quoting this response and demanding my old seats back. What a disgrace this is.

All members seats should be automatically returned to their members.... the members should be able to decide if they want to move.

Sonja Hood is at the women's game today so if you are there maybe have a word to her about the situation.
It shouldn't need random members bailing up the president for a football club to give a shit about it's members.

Not surprised. North is lying.
They’ve been called out for it too.

It clearly seems to be an outcome backed by monetising those bays for maximum return and nothing else.

What a disgrace 😡👎🏼

My ancestors didn't die face down on the beaches of the Gold Coast so that our club could **** off every single one of our home games for shits and giggles.

So it seems the club hasn’t sold bays 34-39 on Level 2 back to the AFL but has kept them for undisclosed reasons?

What’s true and fact is that they are not for sale to be purchased by members but rather saved for corporate events.

Until North comes out and says what it intends to do with those seats, since 2003 those bays will off limits for the first time.

Schimma platinum members aren’t even listed as a membership category either in 2024.
If you want to sit on level 2 you can only choose a bay. The option to reserve a seat isn’t included as one of the 14 packages.
