I’m in a joking mood….No as he was just on the VFL List
Don't understand not taking Teakle with our current injury crisis
I love it, so old schoolBig Roos website is friggin hilarious.
It’s like a wacky resume put together when a kid goes for their first job.

It shows he's a very confident lad.I love it, so old school
Smit, Schultz & Krueger.. what's going on?
Don't forget Steene
Smit has way more upside than Teakle - it will just take a bit longer.Agree on depth, and you should pick best available according to your strategy ie if you’re in the window pick someone that will help.
Where we diverge in opinion, is for example if I have choice between a mature age player that has a 10% chance of making the grade and contributing to a premiership or a young player that has a 70% chance of making the grade but not contributing meaningfully in this window I choose the latter. No point selecting a player that won’t make the cut based on need.
We’ve essentially taken this approach with our first pick. Second pick I think is need as you’re advocating for…I think with Ned we’ve gone in open eyed. His strengths are at the level, his weaknesses (speed, kicking) are evident. I think we can make this work whilst we have players out, won’t be surprised if he’s straight in as he already knows our system.
Bolded has shown to be patently untrue.I don’t think the depth of talent is there in mid season drafts. I can only think of about half a dozen players who have been a success. If you don’t have a pick in the top few, it’s even less likely.
I would think if you are a team contending, you find a player that can help you during the season, rather than in a few years time. We are vulnerable in the ruck given the injuries. Cameron is our only available ruckman, and if he goes down, we are in serious trouble.
Was Marlion Pickett a pick for the now with Richmond?Bolded has shown to be patently untrue.
The entire concept of “help now” has proven be a bust. No team has done that to date.
Every team has use MSD to pick for the future.
Suspect it’s because of 18 months contracts.
Picking someone now limits what you can do at end of year (when majority of contracts expire).
No team has drafted for now.
Didn't he debut in the GF?Was Marlion Pickett a pick for the now with Richmond?
Honest question as I don't remember the specifics of that pick exactly, but I do seem to remember they picked him to do a job pretty quickly, even though he was injured. Also did play in their flag
He’s a free hit, already on board and one more player we can bring in from our Magoos. Not much changes for him apart from a potential crack this year. Would probably be on a 6 month deal but not sure.Do we need Ned Long?
Yeah, I just checked and you are right. Due to his age though (26), I think you could say he was a pick for the now and not the future.Didn't he debut in the GF?
Must admit I don’t recall that. Was Marlion Pickett a pick for the now with Richmond?

Yes 6 months, but given he just turned 21 a few months ago, we would see a longer term future. Even if he is a mature ager. He’s a free hit, already on board and one more player we can bring in from our Magoos. Not much changes for him apart from a potential crack this year. 100 % agree, we had Adam’s in the midfield for so many years…he was very effective.Smit has way more upside than Teakle - it will just take a bit longer.
It may also mean we've seen the last of Begg.
Long is not fast and his kicking can be a bit dodgy, but he is good by hand, big, strong and a tackling machine.
If his role will be to get the ball out to the likes of Nick and Crisp, he should be good at that.
Maybe a bigger, but not as good version of Titch.
With the latter under a cloud, he's probably a good choice.
Not if it’s 6 months.Yes 6 months, but given he just turned 21 a few months ago, we would see a longer term future. Even if he is a mature ager.
I'm getting Nank vibesSmit looks good in the videos I saw.He looks like a slightly less ungainly Grundy.
He was recovering from injury so couldn’t play for the first 5 or 6 weeks.Must admit I don’t recall that.
Except he played his first game in their GF in an almost 100pt game and was “amazing (like ffs!!)….so I’m not going for “the now” given that was 10 weeks after he was drafted.
And since then he has done absolutely nothing but clog up a list spot,
So, I guess kudos to tigers for picking him? He was the difference.
