Fortunately (?) we'll have a pretty early R1 pick in 2025 as well.

I'm looking forward to our academy/academies (?!) yielding some player/s.

Wonder if the changes to the price required to match academy bids will affect the above listing?!
We could have won ten games this year and ended up with pick four before shenanigans.

A few people seem to think that Melbourne will take a key forward with their first pick, they need mids, for obvious reasons, if they don't trade their pick.
Yeah I think with the Petracca and Oliver situations being on tender hooks a little they need a mid.
What pick would they get for Neal-Bullen off Crows? 25 or 42? They could use that or their own 38 (tied to Swans) on kpf.

Poor kid got Devilfish-ism'd by his own parents..
Tom Hardy Inception GIF

That's Inception level shit right there.

One day learning your entire existence was to provide a couple of hours shits and giggles on a football forum.

Pick 25 sounds about right, premiership player, good player and at 28 adds more experience and run to that team.

Wes Walley Jnr - WC Academy - 2nd round.

Draft this bloke, no-one will ever see / find him hiding in a fwd.pocket or gliding down the wing ball in hand.

Wes Snr played a few games for Subiaco - cousin of Christian Woodley (Subi) who was on our list for two seasons.

Thanks again to WCE Academy for introducing WW Jnr to footy & teaching him everything he knows. Not a rort.

Our academy produces the same results as Police Academy - Mission To Moscow. A dismal failure.

Watson would be a bust in our side is this year's version of the Logan McDonald-esque copium.

You could apply this logic to every good player in the league then.

I'll have a go.

Isaac Heaney would be average in our side because be wouldn't have other players covering his man.

Sam Taylor would be a bust at North because the midfield would overwhelm him with I50s.
It's the exact opposite way to look at it. Watson probably elevates us because he'd be playing a role that no one on our list this year could execute.

Because they are a scam. Clubs are gifted zones and players - all because the AFL wants to continue to stack the deck for GC, GWS, Brisbane & Sydney without too much grief from big Melbourne clubs.

I would prefer an open draft with no academy or f/s

It remains to be seen whether this year is an outlier or whether the new world order is for bottlenecks to go from 5th place down to 15th.
I think this year was extreme but IIRC its often only a few games between 12th and 5th.

Neither. If the Tigs take Smith at #1 then we take FOS, otherwise Draper or trade back if we have a good enought offer.

Unless there’s some video footage I’m missing - I can’t see it with FOS. People may refer to his underage year, but on exposed 2024 form which has to take precedent, there’s at least 5 others I’d take.

People are judging him on his underage year

If you were judging on this year alone I wouldn’t have FOS or Draper in the top 5

Give me Smillie, Murphy Reid, Lalor, Langford, Smith if you balance both years

As I've said, it's like taking the punt on Will Phillips' underage year on account of his draft year being wiped out by Covid except that with FOS, every other option has exposed form in their draft year.
