I could see us doing that with our second rounder next year but our first will be too high…
Unless we get swap firsts
If our first rounder is in the first 4 picks after bringing in three 28+ year olds, we are all kinds of ****ed.

That is after the previous five years of investing picks at the elite end of the draft, each and every year.

No it’s even worse.

You only get 7 if my clubs involved and we aren’t moving 7 unless we move up.

8 is up for grabs for a split
Yeah see......no good.

Saints should be shopping 8 for 12+20 or something....unlikely I know.....then come to us with 7+12(?) for 2....that stacks up better. All impossible I know.

Great that things are ramping up though.....all of sudden pick 2 might be a bit better than pick 6-7-8....weird.

Sure however the idea that we can jump up and triple our wins per season also kinda sounds unreasonable.

Especially given that the 28+ year olds are not exactly prime players.

The offer is a standalone.

Sounds like you do your own bidding with 7 and our F1

The thing is, it’s not.

The supposed doyen of coaching in his previous life achieved nine wins in his third year at Hawthorn.

The conditioning of ‘oh we can’t improve that fast’ needs to be ****ed off, and expectations need to lift substantially.

Corr, Logue, Daniel, Parker, LDU, Simpkin, Darling, Larkey, Xerri, Zurhaar are all 25+. That’s more than half the starting 18.

Whats the benefit of Levi Ashcroft performing as the best youngster in the draft, only going to cost Brisbane more.
This is true. But they are the Premiers, you can't compare pick 18 with pick 2... and it must be said, Levi is a superior draftee however we need a hard forward pocket who kicks goals just as much, and at pick 100, we're building.

No details on the Richmond deal but apparently Saints are offering 7 + F1
What ever the deal it looks like they want to split pick#2 because we only have 2 list spots and deadline closes today l think for delistings.

Yeah that's gunna stink for us. It's the 7+21 result for North.

Wouldn't be the end of the world if we end up with 3 picks inside 21.

A mega trade will only work if we finish with +2 net picks.

Rich Give 10 + 11 + 24 Get 2 + 29
GWS Give 15 + 21 Get 13 + 24
Port Give 13 + 29 Get 10
North give 2 Get 11 + 15 + 21

Really depends on who they think they want with the first pick.

You want to be confident Tauru or Armstrong reach that pick.

I'm pretty sure we have 3 now with Stevo retiring.
You are also nominating River Stevens (I understand you don’t have to take him)

But it means 2 live spots if you do.

All of a sudden that pick 2 is worth something 🙄

Hypothetically in that situation who do we draft?

I would think Trainor and one of Shannahan or Armstrong are live options at that point.

Armstrong, Hannaford, Whitlock/Shanahan/Trainor potentially.

Our openness to do that deal will depend on who we think is there at that pick if we are adjusting the requirements for a top 10 pick. Likewise, Port obviously have their eye on someone. Im thinking it's someone like Travaglia or Reid.

I've heard Port are real keen on Bo Allen.

I've also heard we've had a couple of follow up interviews with Xavier Lindsay who I'm tipping will be around a mid teens pick in the draft.

Would Armstrong last until then though?

Probably not imo

As you would need all of Reid, Travaglia and maybe a Berry or Lindsay to get taken ahead of him. (or a Bo Allen as suggested above)

Armstrong might not be a key target for all we know.

Theoretically, they could go Berry, Shanahan, Trainor/Whitlock - Which is a trio of players I like in those spots.

I wouldn't discount Berry with that first pick either if it was in that range.

We desperately need a quick small forward (more so than a key forward imo) and he's it. He topped the CTL goal kicking and averaged 6 score involvements a game and has electric footspeed none of our forwards have.

The only issue with those proposed trades is someone that's even more ITK, Brady Rawlings, said we would only slide back a few spots from 2

Honestly don't mind this, but like you said as long as we can be sure someone we really want is there at 11.

The scary part is going by all draft reports (realise can actually mean little) have Tauru and Armstrong in the top 10.

Let me change unreasonable to unlikely.

I would be shocked if we were to move out of the bottom 4 next year.

It has next to nothing to do with the personnel and more to do with the mentality issue I think we collectively have.

I do not think our players believe that they are supposed to win. I think it is going to take more years of grinding to right itself.
