It's a little weird how sport rise and fall. Cricket is now popular again in Perth.
Is it the promotion or people just realising that there is little alternatives.
Anyway it's ridiculous how the WACA didn't want a bar of a new stadium.
They could have been the MCG of the West but are just another tenant paying rent.

The Scorchers have always been popular out West. Test Cricket has been "struggling", but people overrate crowds and compare it to Melbourne or Sydney. Melbourne Especially, as a test start and end during the holidays is a massive advantage

Really good point. The numbers would be alot different if the MCG test is played at the start of December when school and work is still a thing.
With this Test likely to go to 5 days (a rare occurrence, these days), there's a chance that aggregates attendances exceeds 300,000. They'd need to average around 60,000 over the next 3 days to break the MCG record: apparently 350,534 (1936/37).

83,073 was today’s crowd (I can’t see the figure in that tweet?). Huge crowd.
Tomorrow looks like it will be a good day’s cricket as well; wouldn’t expect more than 40,000 typically but who knows.
Suspect crowd figure. Half the seats were empty.
