Thanks for the reports.

Geez feels like peak optimism (combined with some silly takes) at present. Might be worth waiting til we actually play some opposition before we judge our progression.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it takes awhile for forward line to gel. It Can take half a season for players to pick up a new system (ginnivan, Chol) and Watson is a rookie. Imagine we are doing all we can at training but nothing beats real opposition.
Yep we wont know where we r until we play for real. However i will say its refreshing to look up at that forward line and know almost everyone of them knows where the goals are. There is also some genuine excitement with our mosquito fleet.

Does Wiz play R1? Or are we icing him?
Depends on form during pre-season games, right?

Reckon Breust + Hardwick + Moore are starters - probs Croc at HFF as well. Leaves probs 2x bench spots for Forwards. Ginni + Wiz?

Any recent word on Day? Good for rd 1 or not?
They won’t know more until he comes out of the moon boot which should be happening in the next fortnight. Moore and Reeves both said he’ll be pushing to play but if he doesn’t play and we are conservative with his recovery, Frenchie, Huss or Croc could easily swap into the middle with no issues

Wardy another one.

Correct but I already had Ward in my side doing some inside mid work and wing as well which was why I hadn’t mentioned him
It's interesting how many this pre-season have said they've had a bit of a run on the wing in between other roles. Ward, Nash on the radio, Moore in your podcast... Jiath is also training there. Sounds like a high rotation game plan developing, and lots of switching around in different positions.

Yep trying to find options for other positions on the ground. We have half back covered hahaha

Think it’s more with Amon at hb we don’t have any real standout candidates for the wing role long term (ie no one who looks like a smith/hill a grader). So we’re trying lots of things to find a workable mix as now solving for 2 wing spots rather than 1. Ward spent a fair chunk of time on wing in 2023 and Nash and a Moore have often rotated through - so nothing new. CJ is a new addition - keen to see how he goes.

When you say 'with Amon at HB', that isn't by accident, it is a conscious choice we have made. There is nothing stopping us playing him wing and he made the AA squad in that position, so he is a standout candidate but we've purposely moved him despite having a load of half backs already. It seems we are deliberately trying to get an unpredictable mix going with how players switch and have that flexibility to cause headaches for the opposition, but also to make the most of the type of players we have on the list. Last year there was a game we won when Weddle, Mitchell, Impey etc were all at stages taking off down the wing for a run, and carving up the opposition, but It was hard to figure out who was playing there, it seemed to be set up for different players to take off at different stages. So it clearly did start last year, and I think we are going to build on that idea of high rotations to make the most of the amount of hard runners we have. And the fact we need to fit guys into a position on the ground, when they aren't in their preferred position.

Exactly….Rubbish moniker!
How can you say it's rubbish when you don't know the origins of the nickname.

I still reckon DGB equals Digby. I haven't heard him called anything else, and it always looks like Digby to me.

let's go Digby, get amongst it!
That's what I call him.

Or Diggers.
