I would play Ramsden Round 1 so Chol doesn’t have to ruck at all. It also means that Lewis doesn’t have two opponents hanging off him and he’s more likely to be damaging with Chol & Gunston inside 50 at the same time. Reeves has shown he has no forward craft. If Ramsden takes the second ruck spot, the forward-line setup remains intact.
Wouldn’t mind see Ramsden on the wing for a bit, seems to have all the attributes and would be hard to man up.

Some more training notes on Ryan, core strength and courage....

Watched a group practice screamers with the back pad (Lewis, Meek, weddle, Frost, butler, Ryan...). When Meek or weddle wear the pad they are basically unmoved no matter who flies; butler hardly moved with perhaps a single step when Meek or weddle crash into him. Meanwhile Ryan is down like a flipped turtle or a kid in an over sized sumo suit every second mark. (Players loved this). It can't be overestimated how much players develop in core strength etc in their first few years, even without putting on size. I should also note, Ryan has a beautiful leap and hands.

When Ryan was wearing the pad he was called out: "Bodes, stop backing up so much under the ball" and responded that he couldn't help it, if the ball was going over his head he had to back up and go for it. He is going to be one of those players taking unflinching grabs backing into packs!

It's hard not to see a great future for Ryan!!! Lock him in for our upcoming "quadflog"

Cheers

Note: from Oxford Dictionary:
Quad-flog (noun)
1. Winning 4 consecutive flags while "flogging" opponents by 60+ points;
2. Winning 4 consecutive flags by beating opponents whose supporters can best be described as"flogs"
Anyone else getting Beau Waters vibes from Bodie Ryan?

A very ver small minority of people are being chicken little’s. Probably less than the ridiculous people that are trying to frame some of these injuries as a blessing in disguise or whatever.

They suck, they are not ideal and it’s going to make it hard to push up the ladder this year if some of them take a little longer to get back then we hope. Most aren’t acting like the sky is falling in.
Yeah but what about London Bridge

Are you and your friends like 12 years old?

Seriously, you need to have a think about what is going on here with your friends.

Mix of late 20's and early 30's.

There's Physios.
There's Fathers.

I said it was 'similar' in nature to the Chol incident. Not the exact same.

If I'm honest, silly behaviour such as that probably keeps us feeling young. Might be part of the psychology behind it if you wanted to do a deep dive.

It’s Frat boy culture. Very common in footy clubs and any ‘jock’ circles etc. There was an incident with Darcy Moore not long ago that was very similar and both players were laughing. I am not suggesting it’s right but those comparing it to a typical workplace are a bit off the mark. I think the difference with Chol case is it seems like he didn’t like it, made it known, and it continued. That’s clearly an issue and unacceptable.

BNF is pointless to bring up.

We had one KPD to rely on in Blanck, now we are forced to play Frost, who is a liability.

CJ was injured for much of the season, so of course his BNF position would not be flattering.

The gameplan that Mitchell is wanting to employ will be run/pace heavy, and as such CJ was shaping up to be an important component playing off a wing. Now we have no blistering pace on the outside.
I tend to agree. Even when CJ played, his skills were terrible and we looked much better once Seamus came into the side. Let’s face it, DGB looks like a flop (if he was a pick 60) we’d move on but it’s hard to part with a draft misfire. Invest in Phillips, Serong, McCabe and future talent. I do think Blanck is structurally important, however believe we’ll throw the magnets around to cover and there is no doubt our emerging talent and improved forward line will make us a better outfit in 2024

We cannot play Chol, Lewis, Gunston AND Ramsden. If we go Gunston Chol has to do a few minutes of Ruck which he has shown to be capable of and make an impact around the ground. Other option is Nash rucks a little bit.

If Ramsden plays Gunston can't so it's Lewis, Chol and Ramsden forward when Ramsden goes into the Ruck, Reeves goes to bench or kick behind play (NOT forward). And we send another small to be a crumbing forward. Permanent smalls would be Ginni, Watson, Bruest (or Butler, sully, Bennets if they play) But could send Newcombe, Moore or Macdonald deeper forward when we go shorter. Or Hustwaite if he plays, then we still have 3 talls.

Real shame for DGB, that's obviously the last thing he needed heading into a crunch season for him personally.

Now our defensive tall stocks are reduced to - Sicily, Phillips, Weddle, Scrimshaw, Frost and Serong. Too many hybrid players that aren't true KPD's in that group. Though it could be fun watching Sicily, Scrimshaw, Serong and Weddle play aerially aggressive defensive footy.
Weddle could easily play Key back. Has put on size as has been discussed already when he was big enough as an 18 year old as it was. Mid 90s kgs he is now. It's big enough. We won't go down that path yet. Don't be surprised that McCabe has pushed up the pecking order with these injuries. Initially looking at a backend of the year debut but the club has been very impressed with his work so far. Not all doom and gloom as we went to the draft and got more key position players in.

Precisely this.

Hustwaite is special, looks like an absolute gun. You can’t buy class and poise like this kid has. Easily gets a guernsey in Round 1. After two AFL games and a second pre season, he’s already one of my favourite players at the club. He’s going to have a huge impact this year.

Sure, but a hammy isn't a long term injury. Normally six weeks or so. He might only miss a couple of rounds.

Get on him for the rising star at $151

Yep . Very much 2nd hand info but apparently it was quite consistently bad , nothing was done from the top done about it . May have even been told to 'harden' up .........
Good news is he is loving our environment .

I do understand what you are saying, but I'd counter that if people want to grab your dick and stick fingers up your arse then they are probably still exploring their own sexuality.

Beau Waters was way too tough for his own good. Really talented player on his day.

I like the comparison but hopefully Bodie stays healthy.

I believe the Melbourne v Richmond simulation was pretty much the full available lists across 7 periods.

Based on previous years it will probably be each teams available best 22 v 22 from the start and then gradually morph into a reserves game as players complete their designated minutes.

The official pre season game the week after might be a "traditional" 23 man squad.
Usually the official preseason game has around 26. Usually just 22 in the game at anytime and then 4 subs

Is there any word on the format for Friday. 4 quarters? 6 periods? Or a AFL practice match and a VFL practice match?
