Cavernous…He was AA. Big gap to Frost.
He reminds me most of Mark Ricciutto in his appearance and the way he plays. It’s fun to think about how insanely good Newk is going to be when he’s 25-26 and is in his prime. He’s going to absolutely destroy sides.
No need to go back to Ricciutto. Petracca ia a contemporary of the same ilk. Numbers are broadly similar but Petracca is more productive on the scoreboard and has a slight edge in clearances and possessions. But it is extraordinary that the Duke is very close to rarified territory after just 51 games. Has he peaked or can he match the greats? He reminds me most of Mark Ricciutto in his appearance and the way he plays.
He's already delivering the same sorts of numbers as Ricciutto in his prime, and only needs to increase his goal output by 1 per game to have him completely covered.
It took 'Roo' 5 seasons to get to that level. Jai is there in half the time.

Newk had a record amount of tackles in his debut game100%
I called the Ricciuto comparison on his debut.
Reports suggest some St Kilda-aligned ex-players, perhaps influenced by a former team-mate of theirs who was a relative failure as an assistant coach with us, reckon his ceiling is limited. No need to go back to Ricciutto. I'm going to enjoy hearing/watching these supposed experts squirm when our current No.3 proves himself to be a 'lethal' gun over the next decade.
Reminds me of Lethal. He reminds me most of Mark Ricciutto in his appearance and the way he plays.

Big call.Reminds me of Lethal.
Agreed. But he exudes the same sort of authority.Big call.
Lethal and Barassi are probably the only two serious AFL GOAT contenders. Next level are players like Hodge, Voss and Ricciuto. Newcombe has a way to go yet.
A lot of really average footballers in the collingwood premiership team. But an awesome unit.I like it as well
The era of the super team is over (at least for the moment) and premierships will be won by clubs that can develop a team that covers their weak points and emphasizes their strengths.
Collingwood is a case in point this year, I don't think they were that much more talented than the other top 4 sides but they picked a side every weak that knew their game plan inside out.
Time the Hawks started to prioritise wins as a winning culture has a habit of snowballing (as does a losing one).
Watson’s agility and smarts will hopefully avoid the physical clashes with opponents who are bigger and stronger. If the ball is on the ground and has to be won he is the type that will do a little tap on etc to a teammate or until he’s right to gather the ball. Once he’s got it expect things to happen. We’ve just gotta get the ball to him as much as possible. As I said at training last week when Wiz got the ball Mitch yelled out “Speed do your thing” which shows how the club wants him to play approach the game. On the lead a couple times he also looked unstoppable. From only a couple of steps he creates good space and hits the ball hard when meeting the ball if you know what I mean and can jump. And the strut ……. really looking forward to watching him play and taking the game on.Sam Mitchell:
- Nick Watson physically ready for senior football and doing most of the training.
- Chol started pushing at 95% and "smooth mover".
- McCabe great athlete, but not ready.
- Calsher Dear surprising to the upside.
- Bodie Ryan the 'bolter' looking like he's gonna be a good player.
Sold. In round 1.And the strut …….
With regards to Ryan do track watchers think he has an AFL body / fitness base yet?Sam Mitchell:

Agree. With regards to Ryan do track watchers think he has an AFL body / fitness base yet?
If Hardwick does indeed play forward there is a spot for someone to play that mid sized hard nosed defender / offensive Backman hybrid role which seems to be right in Bodies wheelhouse.
Well this is new. I always thought it was the carrot OR the stick.............
Hopefully the stick isn't too long,so they can get to the carrot?

Kicked the first or second goal from on the paint of 50 if memory serves me correctlyHardwick forward, reminds me of Campbell Brown playing up forward. Had a huge impact there in Q1 of the 2008 grand final.
