Kingsley is who I dream of as a Dees coach. Perfect mix of modern attacking game plan while having an intimidation factor, guy is on some angry pills.
Bloody love that he managed to build them into the season and get them clicking during the year

if we make finals not a chance Goody is sacked imo. Would need a 2019 collapse and even then im not 100% sure. Im sure Pert will spin the stability line a million times hoping that will work.

Yep, club is terrified of the media and don’t want to deal with the scrutiny of sacking him.

Yep, didnt do the boring and safe thing when they were giving up goals like Leon Cameron was, Cameron would shit the bed and try and stop the bleeding by going defensive far too often. Kingsley stays aggressive. They draft players and build a game plan around kicking scores, must be nice to support a team like that. Even if they are losing games at least you know they will be watchable week to week.

It's not as good as freos song but that Russian propaganda song does get me fired up aswell

I think as a processor though he is super quick, seen it multiple times in the under 18 vids. Knows where people are around him when he gets the ball, makes good decisions in fast time and doesnt get caught holding the ball often. Very similar to Lachie Hunter in some respects, just with an inside mid edge to him.

People will overhype Windsor based off his legspeed for the first year or two. A player with speeds great, I wanna see that he's more than a Jayden Hunt though once he comes up against other quick blokes and he can't just rely on that all the time.

Way too big a wraps from Kane Cornes before he even plays a game but I think he is far more than a one trick pony like Hunt. He can kick well. I keeping back to this game, as good a single game as I saw from anyone I watched the lead up to the draft, Giants wanting him makes perfect sense, suits their game perfectly....

.......Add to that he looks to have a far bigger body than I thought he would have right now, was expecting a skinny kid with pace but hes put on a fair bit of mass in just one preseason. Must play him.

There also isn’t the same space to use pace at afl level as there is elsewhere, but hopefully Windsor is a gun and will find plenty of footy and have good disposal too - that will be more important than his pace.

Danster's training Report
  • Full match sim, tackling intensity about 70%.
  • Before the match sim started they did a cruise full ground kicking drill to warm up. Oliver participated in this with the team which was great to see.
  • The first half was a clear cut 'Probables' versus 'Possibles'. So the 'Probables' had our Best 22 (Gawn, May, Lever, Viney, Pickett, JVR, Brayshaw, Rivers, Bowey, McVee etc. and the 'Possibles' were the guys considered outside the best 22 plus a bunch of Casey Players.
  • Things of interest: Windsor, Laurie and Schache in the Probables 22. Woewodin, Tholstrup and Blake Howes in the Possibles. And interestingly Billings in the possibles. It seems that he is currently sitting outside the 22. Hore was also in the Possibles which seems that he is also sitting outside the Best 22 at this stage.
  • Kynan Brown played in the centre square for the Possibles team and did extremely well. My main positive takeaway from the session. His kicking needs works but he pops up and probably had 25 touches for match. He hurt his wrist late but after seeing the physics/doc he was back out there. Couldn't be developing any better.
  • The Probables team were winning by about 50 points in the first half (as you would imagine) and then they switched the teams around and put the Dees best 22 defence onto the other team and switched Gawn onto the other team. They reset the scores and the 2nd half was very even.
  • Gawn was BOG. Absolutely dominated Farris-White whose body language was poor. His shoulders slumping every time Gawn got a mark around the ground. Gawn probably had 30 touches, 10 marks, 2 goals. 3 behinds.
  • Pickett was quiet.
  • The Best players across the 4 quarters were, in order: Gawn, Sparrow, Viney, Spargo, Bowey, Brayshaw, Chandler, Lever, Rivers, Kynan Brown.
  • No mid time for Rivers.
  • May hurt his left groin and didn't play in the 2nd half. He ran some laps, took some photos with fans. Seemed in good spirits and his running was fine so it's not serious.
  • Windsor was much better in the 2nd half than the first. He got ignored a bit in the first half on the wing. But in the 2nd half he was used a lot more and probably had 10-12 touches in the 2nd half. His pace and line breaking doesn't really get utilised on the wing so much so his damage per disposal could improve but overall he had a decent game. It's just a hard position to play.
  • Lever hit Woewodin a bit late and apologised immediately. Woewodin stayed down for a while then got up. He wanted to keep playing but I think the club staff pulled him from the match.
  • Tholstrup did some nice things. He's hard and didn't shirk any contests. had about 12 touches for the day. A few marks in space. But doesn't take a backwards step.
  • Not training: Fritsch, Petty, Salem, McAdam, Oliver, Melksham, Brown, Mcdonald, Verrall, Fullarton, Moniz-Wakefield and Jefferson.

Yeah I just wanna see that he can turn on the Jets but then dish off a handball or slow down and kick to a free man. Not just straight line play everything.

Him and Rivers and Mcvee and Kozzie should be cheating forward when Oliver is near the footy and Oliver should go back to that creative handballing from years ago. Would really change how we play

Love the little things Windsor does, thats why I think there is far more to him than just a Hunt who was dumb as dogshit, Windsor has game smarts... Receive the handball and give it back while laying a shepherd for the teammate running past on the wing (doesnt just take off blindly coz hes fast) rove the pack front and centre while giving the handball back to a teammate in a better spot and a back-pedalling shepherding , doesnt run around like a headless chook - very aware of space and where to go be dangerous and an option, doesnt get sucked into contests - plays in structure.

And this is why I dont want him to be pigeon holed as a winger, if we are any chance of changing the way we play this year we need more of players like Windsor, Rivers, Bowey and McVee getting the ball in the corridor on the move.

Yeah you don't need pace on the wing, I actually think blokes who can mark back and forward and are cardio machines are way better suited. The leg speed of Windsor I wanna see around the back of stoppages and moving through the midfield

100%, quickest way home is up the middle and gives the forwards a chance, put your speed and ball users to use there. Having pace and ball users on the wing is wasted. You just need endurance donkey's on the wing.

Steele Sidebottom is a perfect example of this.

He's not quick at all, but his work rate and football smarts is why he's one of the best outside players in the competition.

His football IQ and work rate is unbelievable.

How was Schache up forward?

How was Schache up forward?
Schache was quiet up forward. Maybe kicked a goal but nothing to really report other than being quiet.

JVR kicked 0.3 to start the match. He didn't adjust to the wind and kept missing left.

Genuinely never felt more underwhelmed coming into footy season then I have this year even though I know we'll play finals in September.

Even this time last year I was excited with the Grundy and Hunter inclusion and the organic growth within the team.

We failed to address our lack of forward and ruck depth and that in itself reeks of arrogance from both the list management and coaching staff.

Our injury list is growing very similar to 2019, Brown and McDonald are going to spend another year more on the sidelines then on field chewing up valuable salary and list spot.

There should have been hard conversations between the club and Ben Brown especially regarding retirement as his body is absolutely chronically cooked. Come up with a settlement or pay his last years contract out to him and move on.

Still the uncertainty around Clayton Oliver and even Harry Petty with his injury.

One forced coaching change on a coaching staff that hasn't changed since 2020. It's the same boring and bland voices that the players have to listen to for another year. Anyone that has played footy would know that you can get pretty stale when you're listening to the same blokes for a number of years. There should have been a whole coaching restructure at the end of 2023.

Only thing I'm looking forward to this is watching some of the kids strut their stuff such as Howes, Windsor, Tholstrup and hopefully even Kynan Brown. That's about where it stops.
I'm not even certain of that happening.
