It's possible he had a bad off season last year but for the majority of his career it's never really been an issue. It's a weird thing people have latched onto, I think unfairly. Some people just aren't going to get jacked like Petracca no matter how hard they train.

On the flip side you have someone like Colin Sylvia who was ripped throughout his whole career but was actually pretty unfit and lazy.
Danster is only upset coz he really enjoys looking at hot sweaty men with six packs and Gus ruins it for him when he goes to Dees training sessions.

He has a naturally kinda slow, lopey running style too so that doesn't help appearances. It's encouraging to hear he apparently ran a PB in the 2km time trial, and he doesn't need to be a jacked beast, but it was pretty clear he returned to preseason before 2023 in not ideal condition and had to play catch up a bit.

I was going to say I'm sure Oliver isn't repping a 6 pack lately, but then again he's not even at training

Clayton is allowed to do whatever he wants. Danster also has a very big red head fetish and Clayton really hits the spot.

If Trac could finish at even 55% in front of goal he’d comfortably be the best player in the league. Not sure if we get that ever, but it’s the one thing holding him back.
Wasn't in 2017 when he kicked something insane like 26.6.
Even in 2021 he was pretty good in the accuracy department.

2017 is a strange comparison as it was basically his second year of AFL, and in 2021 he WAS the best player in the league.
Was just pointing out that he is capable of having an accurate season in front of goal (i.e. better than 55%) and hopefully it's this year.

I reckon he fixed up his set shots in 2023 somewhat but it was his snaps around goal that were horrendous.

There was some maintenance work going on at Gosch's late last year, but not 100% sure how long that keeps us off it. Wouldn't be surprised if we were exclusively at Casey until Feb though.

danster168 Crusty Demon according to a cheer squad member on Demonland, training starts on Monday 15th at Gosch's, most likely Wednesdays will be at Casey but not confirmed.

Earlier info ended up correct - Apparently no training at Gosch's until after the Aus Open.

He actually went at 32.3% in 2023 when you included shots that didn't register.

Career average is 39.8% so I reckon expecting better than 55% is maybe a stretch. He's only got above 50% in one season (2017) so far.

I'd be reasonably happy with 40-45% tbh.

I was pretty vocal with Brayshaw's weight last pre season and I think it was pretty evident as well.

But he actually looks trimmer this year and much fitter then this time last year.
I remember going to an early training session last year and I wrote on here that it was clear as day he had a pot belly. All he did was run laps. The start to his season wasn't great either. But he looks much trimmer this pre-season. Expecting him to probably play a significant midfield role. He actually played well in Oliver's absence.

Yep, I remember you were pretty vocal about this as well.

Clearly the club was absolutely not impressed with his physical state and restricted to just running laps as a punishment.

For a that was in his 9th season of AFL footy at 27 years of age to be turning up overweight is mind boggling.

Hope Salem has a big pre-season. Think he has plenty of good footy in him if he can stay fit (he's looking pretty ripped in those photos)

His skillset is needed and I hope we give him the license to play with some creativity and dare because I think he has the skill to pull it off.

Based on the last 24 months no way he should be in the team round 1.

Not opposed to him having a big pre-season and forcing his way back in, I just hate how Goodwin picks his favourites and gives them a million chances.

I'd love to see some youngsters take some spots from Salem, Langdon, Hunter etc if they can't find their best form.

A fit and in-form Salem could make a massive difference for us IMO. Pending classic Goody stubbornness, it could mean anything out of Bowey forward, Rivers midfield, Howes tried on a wing etc and could potentially help our dump kicks out of defence issue from 2023.

I’ve said before when he has a good pre season he plays well. When he has an interrupted start to the season he struggles. So far so good.
