Wicks hasn't shown any ability to run through the mids at this stage.

And Fox doesn't really strike me as a shut-down type either.

We had Clamps, and prior to that we had George. I'm just not sure who we have now.

Clamps mainly did it to the opposition half backs from memory. I can't recall him playing a defensive role on opposition mids. Hence the Wicks or fox, I don't think we'll go with anyone specific considering our depth.

Fox playing in defence predominantly would mean his skills should translate well to do that role in the fwd line imo.

Roberts in if Adams out .
Wicks to play a defensive role on Lever , give him no space , the same with McLean with May.
Only going Ladhams to help run Max in to the ground .
If he goes well he can stay in and belt the Septic Tank in round 1.
Liked Warner jnr last night

ffs dew, hate that word. Hope the boys are wearing the correct boots. I might get down to training if they slip up & let them know about wearing correct boots. My biggest annoyance.

My query - who is our "shut-down" man in a post Clamps world? If someone does get off the chain, who goes to them to quell the influence?

Who is our Clamp in a #FreeRowbottom world order?

It has to be Rowbottom. If trac gets off the chain then JR needs to shut him down.

It is completely unclear what Rowbottom would be freed for.

Absolutely relentless

Horse has a completely different gameplan now to what he did when he first took over.

He's shown numerous times he's willing to change things up, especially when it comes to where players fit. He is very willing to move them around so they get game time and can play around the ground.

Last night he gave McVeigh the reigns, but apparently it's Horse's fault the players weren't perfect in a practise match!?!?

Boo hoo

I didn't mention the practice match.

Horse has changed the gameplan a bit over the years but essentially fails when the heat is on year after year. So yes I will be relentless

Players cop it endlessly here but the coach is untouchable , give me a ****en spell.

He has had a shitload of talent and so
much time and has underachieved

Complain about Horse, but actually make a decent argument.

Just sharpening the knives for no reason, I highlight it and you chuck a sook

Missing Mills, Parker and Adams hurts. A lot.

Personally - I think we’re kidding ourselves with the “we have so much depth” narrative.

You just can’t replace those 3 with players of an equal calibre.

And remember - our VFL side has already been towelled up.

I know this sounds gloomy - but Melbourne has a stacked midfield, even without Brayshaw.

I’m nervous.
