to be fair some of draper's kicking in the preseason doesn't make much more confident
Haha, I would put it a level above those two. I confidence he can move the ball forward, on evidence, the other two I'd want doing nothing but bombs down the line and sidways 20m kicks.

Before I get jumped on, Banfield had a very good game, he was clean and in good spots but he's never being a good option of defence and after listening to JL he seems to agree we need a long term option, that is not Banners as a back. I agree with FreoMatt that maybe Draper is a lock which is very very exciting

Why would you bring in Reidy to play forward when you have Tabs or Voss who could do better. Your point on Jackson is spot on snd is why Reidy won’t play, our Jackson/Treacy ruck/forward combination couldn’t have worked better last week so they won’t mess with that

Only mentioned is because his name keeps floating around. I think Tabs is cooked and his decision making is way too slow, so Ideally Voss in for me

Also I think based on what’s been said already by JL it’s clear that neither Draper nor Davies will be playing this week.

The whole game with Banfield and Hughes taking it out of the backline fills me with dread to be honest but we'll see
hughes obviously started horribly but still though he ended the game ok and certainly didnt go into his shell despite the early mistakes - banfield im less sure on, but he can deffo do a job on sheezel though, i remember his early years up against merrett i think, shut him right down

Banfield is showing his detractors that he is hard to kill.
He's flexible, kicks goals, and has a tank.
However, his major blight was when he let that Geelong Irish fella run rings around him at Optus all those years ago.
He kicked a goal, and Banners was basically a witch hat!
However, all is forgiven, and if he backs it up this wekk, should never be castigated on this forum again

I’m ok with one, both feels like a critical mass of potential disaster and is not a long term solution

Yep, happened last year at HOME and a lot on this board seem to think we are a certainty.
Yeah we beat the Lions but they seem to be a bit disinterested atm
Roos have so much young talent that one day will click, when it does look out.
Mark my words, this weekend is a worry!!
I don't believe we are a certainty, but the boys are fired up for a good crack at it. I'm disappointed to hear Clark might be injured - that will be massive

100%!! it's like they are continually searching for his flaws - he deserves his spot. He has the fitness to play an entire game.

This Hugh Dixon call worries me a bit

I’d mentioned on another thread but would we give any thought to Johnson back ?
He’s the same height as Chapman, very good kicking skills out of defence and has a bit of mongrel about him.
He looked a little lost up the ground last week, maybe a month or so having the ball come to him may help
Certainly didn’t hurt Mundy, Cerra, Young and numerous other mids!
In which case Walker, JOM and Voss in.
Agree though that there is no better game to trail Davies or Draper so maybe not.

Fair enough. fwiw I'm going with Walker, O'Meara and one of Tabs/Voss.

Banfield will stay forward.

BUT I would absolutely love Simpson to be a selection surprise. Even if he starts as sub and Raz get a full game.

The problem is you need to think about the whole team balance when you are making changes. Bringing in OMeara and one of Tabs/Voss leaves us a defender short, so if Banfield plays forward. Who goes back? Young? You’ll get a lot of push back if that is your intention

Yep I was willing to have Young and Switta roll thru the backline in my pre game team. But after Sunday not unless another injury disaster.
Young is midfield all year so 2 backs come in. Hopefully Walker to replace Worner and one of Davies(not Dixon🤪)/Draper.
Jlo wants the forward structure to stay with 3 talls, so either Tabs/Voss with Treacy playing the same role or Reidy rucking and Jackson to forward/ruck role.
The interesting one is if O’Meara comes in!
