Yup, hopefully voss has Motlop as part of a midfield rotation at times as well. Could really spark through the middle at times imo
he's a ball of muscle which helps that spark although I gotta say I never considered him as fast as others have suggested.......

Motlop reads the game well in the midfield, they had a look at him there last year in the VFL. IMO comes down to fitness. The rest is all there.

Rotations, two way run and speed in the middle improves us greatly. Who brings that for us will be interesting. A guy like Motlop has speed in the way of first few steps and fast agility which is what you want in the middle.

Running in waves up and back, beating the ball into our D50 and then getting forward at speed generating numbers forward of the ball creating fast ball movement. The talent is there in our F50, just need to add fast ball movement and it will go off.

Williams without the inj cap and in full training 😎😎😎
With our depth in running backs he would have to be considered forward pace smarts good kick.Maybe ease him back from half back but wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t given license to keep going and have someone drop back to cover like Doc.he seems to overlap well and reports are he is disposal is good in match sim

Clean hands. Like him in the stoppages. Does some great work. Want to see more opportunities. As for his pace. He is very slow. Let’s not kid ourselves
Don't agree. One game last year he clocked about 34kph. I think he just is not AFL fit. Looks to have dropped the puppy fat and I think we will see his pace shine through

Edit Bulldogs game 34.4km/h

The eye test indicates Mots is less explosive than someone like Dave C(who would also be looking at a mid/forward role). Mots has more scoring presence but Dave is silkier and a better transition player, it might come down to who can keep engaged(not fade out) the most?

Motlop is not slow at all. Just doesn't have the express pace that some of the best small forwards have.

He's got enough weapons to make up for it though. He's much more powerful then alot of those guys. I think he will also appear quicker once he gets fitter and can run at top pace for longer.

Definintely not slow. Doesn't have the electric burst like a Pickett or Cameron but not slow. Also, very evasive

Tom Phillips training with Carlton.
