One has to wonder whether Trump supporters in Australia think that our health system and medicare is a good system or that the US version is or will be better under Trump. I mean they have been waiting for 8 years now for Trump health care plan.

I assume most pro-Trump folk who call anything to the left of Peter Dutton 'socialist' assume they'd be the wealthy types in a society with little to no public health system.

Time and time again it's been found that people are happiest in the 'socialist' Scandinavian countries where they have quite a strong public welfare system and there's less wealth inequality.

Capitalism with minimal regulations and a minimal social welfare system like we see the US pushing more and more towards is a bad recipe for a happy society. Look at South Africa to see the impact that drastic wealth inequality has on a country. Australia needs to be less like the US, not more.

Trickle down economics is also not a thing. Slashing taxes for the already-wealthy does nothing to put money in the pockets of low or middle income earners who'll most benefit from it. And as we saw during covid with the increased welfare payments, it's much better for business for additional money to be in the hands of low and middle income earners who'll actually spend it, than high income earners who won't.

If Australia had less immigration and taxed our resources more, rather than give them away for almost nothing to big corporations we could have a sovereign wealth fund and a better standard of living than the Scandinavian countries.
could likely even do a basic income for all and reduce red tape to pensions/welfare and encourage more participation in work force with less regulations.

The story is that Hinchcliffe was going to call Kamala a c*nt but the Trump team vetoed that line, so yes they were briefed and yes they decided to let the ones that are causing them headaches through.

I guess this constitutes damage control for Trump.

Yes, I watched a member of the Trump campaign say that. They vetted all the guest speeches.
The one that they vetoed must have been really bad.

So do I, then again we are Saints fans, pessimism is ground into us.
Try this then -

I have a really strong feeling Harris is going to win comfortably on Tuesday.

I also had a really strong feeling the Swans were going to comfortably win the 2024 grand final.

Pretty irrelevant. Our economy is largely built on population growth too.

we could have a sovereign wealth fund

We should, yes.

Agree.

encourage more participation in work force with less regulations.

Not sure what you're getting at with the bolded.

My biggest fear is that i'm back into Hillary 2016 optimism. One only needs to go and re-read those threads to see what i thought....

Replace Swans with Saints and 2009, you have me. She should win, its hard to believe that enough woman & clear sighted middle class voters will not decide to have nothing to do with MAGA.

we do

Not quite the same, AFAIK there's been no additional investment since the seed capital was used to start it.

Certainly we're not taxing our natural resources appropriately (IMO) to set the country up for a future where those natural resources are exhausted, we're too busy letting mining companies and their shareholders take the majority of it.

Norway's is a model we could / should have followed.

Simply identifies the fact that people, regardless of political spectrum, don’t like being told that what they say or think is wrong, even when it is wrong.
No that is not what he said. He claims that this is what pushes people to the fringes.

TAB odds Harris $2.70 Trump $1.45. I might just put $10 on her.
Well worth it.
Everybody posting she's a shoe in and Beyonce,Bruce ,Taylor.
Plus Donny bad, bad comedian jokes, orange make up, hating women and a nazi.

How could money on Kamala not be value?
Only problem is you have to take in the stupidity of America

$27 won't buy much, it is a bit of fun.

Always a good feeling to say I backed a winner.
