I like to hope that a Trump presidency won't be catastrophic, then i remember the last two GOP presidents.

Bush - lead the US and the world into Afghanistan and Iraq quagmire, topped it off by gutting regulations such that we had a global banking collapse.

Trump - loaded up the Supreme Court who have gutted well established precedent that has lead to deaths of women, and topped it off with letting a pandemic run riot killing hundreds of thousands, leading to an economic downturn and massive inflation.

Or - alternatively - Albo will appeal to precisely that, and use Trump's ill ease to get him to remove the naval and surveillance bases from Australian soil, distancing ourselves from the American relationship and we can finally manage our own affairs.

We are so, so far away from China/India, America, Europe; we don't need to be a part of their wars or shenanigans. I'm not talking about full isolationism, but I am certainly talking about cutting off the cords that bind.

At no point has our destiny been fully our own. We were pulled into WW1 and 2 because we were still technically at the behest of Britain, and when they declared war we had no choice. We followed America into every conflict, to our own detriment worldwide. Now, we're getting bullied by China because we're being forced to prioritize our trading relationship over our military alliance, and **** that for a shit sandwich; bankruptcy or vulnerability.

Trump represents a real opportunity for the White House to be very, very stupid. Let's exploit it a bit.

Harris was unable to inspire Democratic voters to get out and vote because she didn't connect with them, we weren't in the midst of a global pandemic, and there's a lot of people who aren't satisfied with their current economic position despite the US fairing better than almost any other country on that front.
