Yeah, this was the Democrats trying to run a post-woke election.

They abandoned class politics long ago and embraced identity politics as their key point of ideological organising. Some conservative Democrats are saying that it’s time to dump that but they can’t articulate for what, because they clearly don’t want to move back to class politics (as demonstrated by Sanders’ campaigns for the presidency).

That's because the democrats simply aren't there to win elections or to do anything. They're there to provide a release valve for the upper classes whenever the lower classes get antsy; they get in whenever the republicans get a bit whiffy, try and blind people with rhetoric while they tinker at the margins.

The democrats are some of the wealthiest people in Congress. They're not interested in worker's rights, they're as distant from workers as a feudal lord ever was.

Woke came from black feminists who faced a feminist movement that ignored issues that didn't specifically impact white feminists.

White feminists were progressive, but they were unaware of, or indifferent to, how being female and black could be a different experience and create different obstacles than female and white.

They needed to be aware of, be awake to, the different experiences and different issues of other groups.

That is what woke is, aware of the fact other people can have a perspective and challenges and obstacles that differ from yours.

Now, advocating or supporting marginalised groups makes you deeply unpopular in certain circles, if it didn't, they wouldn't be marginalised.

So, woke amongst these people became a pejorative, a snide put down of people who 'care'.

When arguing on other issues, such as the environment, safety regulations, healthcare, climate, non of which have the slightest thing to do with 'woke', they lumped it together under the term they were already using as an insult, confident none of their moron followers knew the difference, and that leads us to you.

The number of online debates on topics like climate change where the counter argument boils down to 'WOKE, your WOKE'.

I'm hoping the reason I haven't heard much bad about the others is because they are reasonable, and not, they are bad, but choices like Gaetz are so terrible, they look ok in comparison.

It had been openly stated by Maga, that next time, the only criteria for getting a post would be a willingness to do whatever Trump wanted. So I was pretty confident Trump's next presidency would be significantly worse than the first, but I hoped I was being unduly pessimistic, but I may not have been pessimistic enough.
