Just goes to show you that nothing in the US electoral system works, including the primaries. Democrats never had an opportunity to put in someone better. They learned nothing from Clinton. I genuinely wonder if they prefer opposition and the donations it brings.

Australia has its share of shit****ery, but the system itself is far better and leads to far better outcomes.

If Dutton wins it will be dark times for our unfortunatley opaque little democracy, but well still be able to say 'at least it's not as bad as America'.

Yes, Trump, the guy who loves Putin and thinks Ukraine should give up, who wants to withdraw from NATO, who moved the US embassy to Jerusalem in one of the most inflammatory moves in modern times in that region, is a bastion of global safety.

Yes and as we have an independent electoral commission, our seats are evenly distributed by population. Meaning if Dutton did win it’s not going to be with millions less people voting for him in some weird electoral collage quirk.

Trump more drone strikes than any other president, funding Saudis war v Yemen, moving embassy to Jerusalem to inflame tensions and knocking off high up commander in Iran.

He was no different to a normal neocon in that regard. Neither he nor Biden are doing any troops on ground wars and Biden hasn’t begun any wars either.

Russia invaded Ukraine, not sure that could be put on Biden. Only difference is Trump would have tried to let Russia get everything they want.

Hamas did October 7 and then yes Biden has aided a genocide of Gaza, yet Trump somehow thinks Joe is a Palestinian and pretty much wants Gaza bombed harder.

Trumps way of “peace” is to give the more powerful side everything they want.

Dems need to offer a positive alternative with proper progressive policies. The sad truth is they have been taken over by the corporate types who’d actually prefer a trump presidency than a genuine progressive like Bernie.
