Why not ? Looks like only a late first rounder coming our way from Geelong . Could play well and get a few more clubs interested
Late first rounder because Bigfooty and a bunch of media people with an agenda say so? I can’t see us giving up Bailey for that. Not saying it doesn’t happen but would be genuinely surprised.

Everyone already knows Smith's abilities. A game or two in the VFL is not going to change anyone's mind.

And anyone who thinks Smith will hit the ground running where he left off after a whole year out is kidding themselves. His match fitness and skills will be miles off, probably hurt the team, and it would take weeks or a full preseason for him to get back to his former self. He isn't going to walk back in and be a gun.

At this stage of the season and having not re-signed, the club's obligation is to preserve Smith's trade value.

Smith and his management would be on a unity ticket with that as well.

Disagree it has anything at all to do with this.

The only reason Smith would play VFL would be to get some match fitness for the AFL.

The only players who have ever come back early from knee recos are those towards the end of the year.

Smith staying or going, it would be madness to rush him back with a long future ahead of him and a full pre season to prepare properly

What are our chances against Southport? Who is the favourite?

We'd be favourite but Southport are in very good form.

They smashed Frankston last week and got the better of Geelong by five goals away. A few weeks ago they beat Werribee who won the minor premiership.

Are Macrae, Daniel & Harmes available?

Backing CP in, seems pretty switched on

From last night: Harmes and McNeil
Others eligible: Gardner, Garcia, Cleary, L.Smith, Croft, Baker, Bedendo, Clarke, Poulter, Busslinger, A.Jones, Scott and Keath

Khamis, Daniel, Freijah, Lobb and Sanders played the minimum number of VFL games but too many AFL games to qualify

I'm looking forward to the challenge this weekend.
Saturday @ 2pm at Whitten Oval.

A successful VFL campaign cannot be underestimated. We found that in 2014 when we defeated Box Hill in the GF with several players who hadn't quite yet established themselves at AFL level... JJ, Dickson, Jong, Roberts, Redpath, Goodes, Talia etc were some of the players who played in that much... As well as Liam Jones, J Grant, BTC, Honeychurch.

Winning this week will further fast track our younger brigade and hopefully that paves the way for some of them to be regulars next season.

Southport have some very good players, none more outstanding than Dawson, Woodcock, Crossley and Jepsen.

Smith will have his work cut out against Crossley but it will be a good challenge for him.

Planning on getting my ticket for this one and heading to the Whitten Oval.

At least we are still in with a shot at a premiership at VFL level.

How does one get tickets? Can you buy them at the gate? How much are they?

I should be in Melbourne on Saturday and wouldn’t mind going.
