Maybe Berry is just considered the better pick in the same position so no team is thought to reach for Hannaford. If Port grab Berry, maybe we will consider Hannaford instead?

I think 2021 is the only year we pretty much hit the board consensus for draft picks although even then I reckon plenty preferred JVR.

Interesting I've seen today that Peter Bell has stated he sees another good user off half back as our biggest need and suggested that may be the way we go with pick 14.
Wouldn't be surprised if that's where we go. Thinking about it a bit more Aish and Wagner both feel like short term solutions that could be upgraded by a draftee in 2-3 years. Wouldn't be the worst pick of that's what's available.

It's absolutely in the top 3 priorities I reckon. I'm not so sure a first year player would/could be the solution, unless they're some kind of prodigy-savant at reading the game+composure. Very doubtful they'd then be available beyond top 5.
A more mature pick could be the go further down maybe.
Internally...Michael Walters as an off-the-wall option?
So the first two picks HBF & Small forward.
That leaves a medium forward as a position we’re not flush in. If he makes it to our third pick, how about a mature age player like Sam Davidson who is 190cm and won the best young player award in the VFL. Kicked 26 goals in 17 games and finished the season with flurry.

Who is in the draft that fits spot around 14? Harrison Oliver looks like it at probably a later pick but doesnt seem to have the speed to run us out of the back half like we have been trying lately. Allan?
We also have Whan, Hart and Robinson coming through our NGA the next two years. Whan could possible fill that role.
Whan is a mid \ half back.
Hart is a small forward
Robinson is an inside mid.
I am still all in on small forwards, but we will probably get enough small forwards through our NGA over the next 10 years to ensure we don't need to draft any more.
Harrison Oliver and Angus Clark fit this description. Oliver seems to fall in most experts around 25-30. Clark just after. We may need to consider upgrading using a Future pick to make sure we get one of those. Neither fall in the range near our first pick.
Yes he looks good but won’t last till our final pick around late 50’s. We’d need to upgrade to an earlier pick.
The Carlton pick 38 is an interesting one. There is a decent chance Camporeale is bid just before that pick.
Not sure if we need to upgrade Worner prior to ND. If not, we can go into draft with 4 selections.
If Camporeale is bid on at say 37, I’d happily trade say 58,66 and F3 for that pick

Wouldn't rule out a first year playing contributing in a half back role. I've seen Oliver referred to as Wilmot 2.0, and while Wilmot (pick 16) took all of his first
year to debut, they thrust him into the side for 3 finals and he looked right at home and has never looked back. Darcy Wilson (pick 18) is another one from last year. They played him all over the shop, including wing and forward, but he is the sort of player that you could slot in at half back.
Won't be surprised at all if we pick Oliver at 17. We have been linked to him. And his bios on the various draft guides reads very impressively. My main question would be on his speed. Herald Sun says he plays with speed and power, but Rookieme only gives him an "average" rating for speed.
Just imagine having a second Clark in the team: the proliferation of extraneous "e"s on this board would cause Snuffaluphagus to suffer apoplexy!
The other way to go and also a very good option is draft Xavier Lindsay with p14(provided he’s there) then go small/med fwd with our second - hanneford, Dattoli, Alger, Davis all possibly available

The problem is it seems at least plausible that Freo have given guarantees/assurances to Narkle and Jaren Carr.
If we have, that leaves 2 "open" picks. So realistically maybe we trade 30 up a couple spots if there's a player we really like and want to avoid being pinched.

With the new points system you basically need three early third rounders to match a bit even at 20. We might be reluctant to trade up with any more than 1 future depending on where we forecast Whan ending up.
Narkle hasn’t nominated for ND so he is a lock for SSP rookie. Carr is certainly on the ND nomination list and appears we are considering him with our third pick.
We want the best linebreaker at one of our picks I reckon. Brains/Kick is probably at the top of the how, Pace/Kick likely number two.
"Kick" can be broken down into precision and power, both would be great, but precision will do depending what's available.

Maybe. But achieving at junior levels in most cases takes a while to adapt to AFL level.
Especially the "reading the game two/three steps ahead and executing quickly and with precision/composure 75%+ of the time" part.
That's super elite stuff.
