Late pick only. Maybe rookie pick
We haven’t come out and committed to Narkle yetWe don’t have any available cat-a rookie picks. The two we have are committed to Knobel and Narkle.
I wasn't around for that one so not sure.Simpson in 2012?
Then how do you explain him not nominating for the National Draft. He is eliminating himself from one of the primary sources of getting onto a list. If he wasn’t locked into a SSP rookie spot then he would have nominated for ND. There are bugger all actual picks in the rookie draft these days. Maybe 15 at best. So excluding himself from 65 pick options and just hoping he gets picked in PSD or Rookie draft is ludicrous. Ryan Daniels has finger on the pulse and said Narkle is going to Freo via SSP. That and his non nomination today for ND confirms we are adding him to our rookie list.We haven’t come out and committed to Narkle yet
That discussion seems to reflect what was already gathered by his non-invitation to Night 1: he's gonna drop further than the phantoms have him at (applies to Trainor too). Pretty much every site has Hotton and Trainor in the top 15 of their phantom form guide when you exclude academy/father-sons. But regarding Hotton, those 3 clubs have picks at the very back end of Night 1.Twomey didn't mention freo in the mix for Hotton. He mentioned dogs, swans and tigers

I think this might be ok. He seems like a kid with a high ceiling and low floor. While we can afford risks, just switching a 20-22nd player out for a normal level first rounder will be a big win once they come on.Twomey didn't mention freo in the mix for Hotton. He mentioned dogs, swans and tigers

All I’ve heard is that he’s heading down to South Fremantle, maybe a mid season pickup? Then how do you explain him not nominating for the National Draft. It also reflects that we don't need another inside midfielder—Walls specifically said Bo Allan is not a positional need for us. Sydney were really keen to get to 13 so I think 19 and 22 could be got. Bulldogs might do 17 and 25 as well as they seemed to be interested in getting up a bit and were also in the pick 13 discussion. Can we turn #14 and #30 into #20 and #24 from Richmond?
Still doesn’t make a lot of sense. We have not participated in 2 of the past 3 MSD. There is no guarantee that we will. What if Narkle injures himself in the weeks leading up to MSD.All I’ve heard is that he’s heading down to South Fremantle, maybe a mid season pickup?

It seemed during the trade period that there was a sort of top 15 players emerging with only a few KPs. I guess if the club now thinks that some other KPs might start going earlier than expected then maybe that 15 might extend a bit and they could still get the player they want a bit later, while bringing 30 in.
Simpson's prospects are still in play though. It's a perfectly normal development arc for him still. It also reflects that we don't need another inside midfielder—Walls specifically said Bo Allan is not a positional need for us. We tried the "pick up an agile, classy midfielder with good goal-sense and hope they can make it as a small forward" with Cooper Simpson. Indisputably, he looks his best doing inside work. We need to prioritise a real small forward. Plus, picking up someone to be retooled as a small forward when they've just done an ACL that might effect their agility feels perilous.
Langford looks the goods, will be picked at a similar pick to Erasmus and yet looks so much better at that the same age. No chance he lasts to our pick.
Personally I’m not a fan of the move. Just trying to point out it’s as good as done. These are grim and uncertain times for us all. Recent events will have a profound impact on all our lives for next year and beyond. In truth the end result became more and more apparent in recent weeks.
Its now all but confirmed that Quinton Narkle will be a Fremantle player in a few weeks time.
Not having a crack at Simpson's potential, just his potential as a small forward. I see a lot of signs he could be a really good inside mid.Simpson's prospects are still in play though. It's a perfectly normal development arc for him still.
Simpson as a bit player next year is fine, not forgetting he was taken at pick 35.
Same with any draftee this year. Them being a bit player in the next year or two is more than fine. That's why the prioritising transition-friendly attributes would be so valuable.
Where we will be next year, we can get so much out of just cameos and rotating young and exciting rookies (hopefully including Simpson) through. We don't have to have them shoulder any major responsibilities.
