Nothing wrong with this team, no excuses, train hard and get super fit and should go well.

B Ridley McKay Mcgrath*
Hb Redman Reid Roberts
C Merrett Durham Martin
HF Perkins Caddy Langford
FF Gresham Draper Kako
OB Bryan Tsatas Caldwell

IC Cox, Jones, Parish, Setterfield, Guelfi

Edit. Got ahead of myself on the Stone situation. So swapped Setters back in. It likely won’t be him but no obvious midsize players to bring in

Assuming no Stringer and we get Kako;-

Ridley McKay McGrath
Redman Reid Merrett
Duursma Parish Martin
Perkins Caddy Gresham
Langford Draper Kako

2MP Durham Caldwell

Bench: Tsatas Hobbs SEH Roberts
SUB: Guelfi

Emergency: Cox, Hayes, Jones, Bryan

If all our players play to their age-appropriate potential while also looking to advance our untapped talent;

McGrath McKay Ridley
Merrett Reid Redman
Martin Durham Duursma
Perkins Caddy Gresham
Kako Wright Langford
Draper Tsatas Caldwell
Parish Hobbs Jones Cox Shiel (is the sub staying? I’d have Shiel as a burst player if there’s no sub, especially to close out qtrs when teams are tiring. He can’t be a sub. Roberts gets the sub.)

Fun to dream, but a little misleading. Shiel is ahead of Tsatas & Hobbs. Guelfi is ahead of about 10 of the above. Laverde's ahead of SEH.

A step back to take steps forward
Lav wont be in the team next year and will only be used as depth
Tsatas will be given games ahead of Shiel
You are right about Guelfi he will be best 22 - Small forward line up of Gresh Guelf and Kako - Guelfi actually plays the lockdown role good and his able to score while doing this

I disagree, I think Guelfi is depth. The fact that he was dropped for numerous games in the latter stages of the season attests to this. Didn't impress in the last match.

As for Saad, if he doesn't get games (which he should) I'd put Roberts there instead. It was a toss up between the two. Lav and Shiel are depth in an ideal best 23.

I'd like to see it, just don't think it'll happen based on 2023 & 2024. It'd be a complete 180 from the coaching team. I can't see any world were Laverde and Shiel are running around in the VFL.

As for Saad, if he doesn't get games off the back of his performance before the injury (which he should) I'd put Roberts there instead. It was a toss up between the two. Lav and Shiel are depth in an ideal best 23.
Um, please point to the games Guelfi was dropped for? He was injured at the end of the year. He played one VFL game which coincided with him getting injured for a month and then came straight back into the side after it.

Guelfi wasn't dropped at all later in the season..? In fact, they rushed him back for absolutely no reason and he did his hammy again in the final round. He hasn't been dropped under Scott, at all.

I think it'll be Roberts (hopefully) and Laverde - I think SEH will have to play quite a bit of VFL before he's given a chance, unless there's an injury.

He played one VFL game

I wouldn't exactly use coming back in for the last game of the season as "straight back in". It was a hail mary and it didn't work (was average). I don't see anyone in that F50 realistically making way for him. Also it's time we start playing Hobbs and Tsatas, the habit of wrapping them in cotton wool is over.

Reid was in Lavs spot prior to the season starting this year

Lav will be in the VFL i highly doubt they will have Tsatas in the VFL they may shuffle things around for Shiel maybe play him as a HF or stints on a wing but they wont have him in the middle over Tsatas

Um. Which round specifically was Guelfi dropped?

He wasn't dropped. He was injured. That's the point. He played his VFL game in round 5 (7 for the AFL) too, after a 6 week long injury.

He then played the next 11 games, got injured again and got picked for the last game when he was fit to play again.

Nevertheless he wasn't great. In an ideal world Perkins, Hobbs or Roberts playing forward and doing well would mean Guelfi isn't getting games. That's the point of this thread.

Sorry, that doesn't sound like "I was wrong".

Fair point, I think Reid played about 10 minutes and then missed the rest of the year, which was annoying.

Lav, though, didn't play a single VFL game and was in the AFL side the rest of the year.
