Hawks in Brisbane also a rare bird

We've been up there a couple times in the last 5-6 years I think.

There was a period when I think it was 11 years since we played at the Gabba.

At the end of the day, you finish where you deserve to finish. 23 games in a big enough of a sample size. I don't think it matters who you play.

All this rubbish about "we have to play "X" twice, that's not fair" makes no sense because, firstly, you don't know where that team will finish, and secondly, it's not about who you play but WHEN you play them. My mob beat Hawthorn last year in round one in the midst of the Hawks 0-5 start. If we were drawn to play them in round 20 we would have been smashed. It all evens out in the end.

The moral is, it's about how you play, not who you play.

I thought the draw was meant to be easier if you missed the finals?

Collingwoods fixture:
Our first 7 matches are against top 8 teams, our first 10 matches are against the top 10 (excluding us) from last year. We don't play any of Rich/Wce/North twice....

But the nuffies will say we have any easy draw.
You still have 7 of the last 11 at the G I really wouldn't be crying foul if I was a Magpies supporter

Collingwood finish out of the eight and get the third-hardest draw.

Last year there were three truly bad teams - West Coast, North Melbourne and Richmond - who lost a combined 59 games.

In 2025, 14 teams play at least one of that trio twice, with only Collingwood, Brisbane, Hawthorn and Port Adelaide missing out.
Only! Only!

It’s four of the expected top eight. Entirely predictable. Do you think it should be Essendon, Suns, Crows and St Kilda that only play them once?

You know are home ground is the MCG right ? And we are playing away games against MCG tenants among those 11 ? How many do you expect us to play at the mcg given those conditions ? Brisbane get to play all their home games at the gabba, a luxury we are not afforded at the mcg

Cats play double ups v(by premiership odds):

1st favourtite
5th fav
10th fav
14th fav
15th fav
18th fav.

Median double up oppo is 10.5th favourite for the flag.

Median for all other teams is lower than 9.5th flag fav.

It is the usual soft Cats draw masquerading as a fair(or even tough) draw for a top 6 team.

Yet you are here moaning like the top class sook you are.
Wow,
Here is Freo's under that same metric.
Equal 2nd Favourite
Equal 6th Favourite
9th Fav
10th Fav
13th Fav
17th Fav

Pretty similar but I'd still rather have theirs and we didn't make a prelim.

1 game at the MCG, and that game coming at round 1, is just an absolute farce.

If you’re going to stick to this bullshit gf contract, you have to allow clubs to get some level of exposure there.
The AFL know that Port under Ken are never getting past a prelim

0nly took 7 years and the Hawks to be a decent side for it to happen too

all good Brother
More like the AFL protecting Brisbane from getting slaughtered through the years when the sides were poles apart in ability. As soon as Brisbane improved a little, playing in Brisbane became feasible.

I've only read through the last couple of pages but the many anomalies that posters have highlighted just show what a farce this competition really is.

Some clubs get favourable draws with better TV games whilst others get shunted to the nether regions and are clearly disadvantaged.

The only thing left is for the AFL to hire Vince McMahon to work out wins and when and the job will be complete.
