Heard a rumour today Collingwood may not be involved in Opening round now. Looks like they are playing the swans at Gather Round according to Tom Morris.

No, we’ve played at Adelaide Hills the past two gather rounds. Give us some quality AO please! And I might consider travelling down.Perhaps the Dogs vs Brisbane game is a second Norwood match?
I know my roster for the next 2 years, more actually, it runs on a 60 week cycle so on any given day I can tell you when I am working and what time I start. (unless I am booked off)If you're a shift worker, how are you going to plan anything for July next year?
Oh please not Norwood again it's an absolutely garbage of a ground has absolutely no atmosphereAccording to the leak, 6 games at Adelaide Oval? That sounds like too much, especially considering only 1 game appears to be fixture at Norwood.
3 games in a row on the Saturday could chew up AO a bit.
Perhaps the Dogs vs Brisbane game is a second Norwood match?
The Age is reporting that we're playing at Norwood against the Dogs, not AO.Oh please not Norwood again it's an absolutely garbage of a ground has absolutely no atmosphere
What?Oh please not Norwood again it's an absolutely garbage of a ground has absolutely no atmosphere
It really isn't for someone who has been there twice for gather round it has absolutely no atmosphereWhat?
It's great
If true an improvement on the first two editions. There should never be an early Friday game if they aren't going to have a proper magic round. It's just plain insulting to the teams involved.
In terms of a spectacle, I agree with you. However, the AFL are never going to pass up on delicious ticket sale revenue by scheduling two of the league's bigger fan bases at a tiny ground.Only change I'd make to this is have Carlton v West Coast at Norwood instead.
I just want to have a go at having a neutral game at Adelaide Oval, as reigning premiers I feel like we have earnt the right to as well.In terms of a spectacle, I agree with you. It just stuffs up so many things with the way the AFL do it and comprises the draw even further for bugger all. It's not going to grow the game, any traction they get disappears just as quick and it just pisses off all the fans in the other states.I really don't understand those who dislike opening round.
Let's think of what's good for the game and opening round is. 3 of the 4 games were sell outs last year
Absolutely fair point.I just want to have a go at having a neutral game at Adelaide Oval, as reigning premiers I feel like we have earnt the right to as well.
But yes I realistically know our game against Bulldogs is more likely to get shunted to Norwood.
Not GR related but hope we play you lot at the MCG next year. Hasn't happened since 2000.
Cheer louderIt really isn't for someone who has been there twice for gather round it has absolutely no atmosphere
3025Will the Collingwood special exemption from playing Kardinia Park be extended again into 2025?
The special Collingwood protected exemption3025
I disagree. It just stuffs up so many things with the way the AFL do it and comprises the draw even further for bugger all. It's not going to grow the game, any traction they get disappears just as quick and it just pisses off all the fans in the other states.
If they have to have it, the simple solution is have round 1 play over two weeks. The 8 teams that play on the first weekend have a week of on the 2nd. Then you make sure they play another opponent who had the week off too so it is fair. Round 2 is as normal.
Good luckLooks like I’m going to Norwood!
We were the only team who had a win against the opening round teams who had a head start. i think it was 4 games.I disagree.
You played us round 1 and even tho we were match fit and had a game under our belts you still beat us.
Ok even if we go with that just make all the opening round teams play each other in round 1.We were the only team who had a win against the opening round teams who had a head start. i think it was 4 games.
You smashed us in the first quarter while we got rid of the rust. You just started the year poorly after playing the GF the year before, we got lucky on where your team was at more than that fixture helping us. It just doesn't need to be compromised like that, what does it add?
The season was so tight, coughing up one game can be the difference to making the finals, having a home final or making top 4. It's just too important to make the comp more unfair for a bit of PR.
The grounds are all tiny though. They are the 4 smallest ground in the country that play more than 3 games a year. The opening game at the MCG would almost get more attendance than those 4 combined.Ok even if we go with that just make all the opening round teams play each other in round 1.
Last year 3 of 4 opening round games were sell outs from memory. Need to do all we can to grow the game.
No it’s notShithouse rumour. it's actually Essendon v Collingwood this year.
More than happy to travel down to that dump of a ground if we have toWill the Collingwood special exemption from playing Kardinia Park be extended again into 2025?
