2025 Draw - hoping for MUCH softer

We ****ed the AFL over by being shit after requesting prime slots.

Wouldn't be surprised to cop the regional punishment tour
Tassie and Ballarat as is tradition. No Geelong is a win.

3 MCG games including 2 reasonably winnable ones is nice. Would be nice for 95% of our team to win a game there for the first time.

good draw. no excuses. need to be 4 or 5 wins after 6 games with an easy start granted for a change.

play 3 x bottom 6 (ie the maximum possible) inc Weagles and Kangas (likely 2nd and 3rd bottom). GC will likely improve but very beatable at least at home

Play Power who arent favoured to make finals.

Play Hawks who materially over achieved in 2024 with a very easy draw (getting double ups against 2 of the useless teams). 3rd fave for flag IMO is over rating but likely finalists

Play Pies who are likely top 8 but not as daunting as Lions, Swans, GWS twice IMO

Even home single games are generally vs harder teams which is better

NO EXCUSES for Nicks. We will make finals with this. MUCH easier than last couple of years and gives us a chance to get on a roll early on

Some good and some bad here.

In terms of double ups, Port, Hawthorn and Collingwood should all be top 6. That's tough.
West Coast won't be much better. North will improve a little. Gold Coast won't be easy beats.

Playing Richmond away is a good result. Should get an away win at the MCG. Better playing them away than at home.

Getting shunted back to Ballarat and Tassie is a bit shit. I guess the AFL looking after us lasted for one year.
Avoiding Geelong at Geelong is a huge and unexpected bonus. 3 games at MCG is a great result. Hopefully we can finally get past Collingwood, or beat Hawthorn (less likely I'd say).

On the whole it's a pretty reasonable draw. Could have been nicer with the double ups, but no excuses to not make finals.
Power 10th fave for flag. won lots of close games and had easiest draw in 2024. Wont make finals IMO

The last 6 games should be wins too. Very soft end to the year

Haven't read any of this thread yet, but my thoughts:

  • very favourable draw.
  • Soft opening - we should be 4-1 and an outside chance of 5-0
  • Doubles against wce and north is handy
  • Only 5 day break is leading into Gather round against geel which sucks but since the GC game is a day game the crows will get 5 nights back in Adelaide / own beds.
  • 2 in Perth, 1 in Tassie, 1 Ballarat ain't bad
  • No Cattery, GABBA,Western Syd/Canberra/NT is a win
  • 3 MCG vs 1 Marvel 😯
  • hopefully our home showdown will be a stand alone Fri night
  • Logo actually looks great on the fixture

Take it to the bank: Tex will NOT play GC

How were we shit?
They were close games, reasonably attacking and we lost -all the other supporters loved it! Stop being so crow-centric.

That's true, other teams did enjoy us coming 15th

The soft start is much needed, we should be 3-0 rather than 1-2/0-3 the last couple of seasons.
Fantastic to have. Historically we've been our worst to open the year under Nicks and it's another excuse removed playing teams like Saints, Essendon, Roos, Suns, Fremantle and Carlton in our first 8 games. Even Geelong is at home which if we're good we should be able to win.

Can't say "oh we had a tough fixture to start the year" if we have another repeat of last year.

Pissed off that the Crows don't play at the Gabba this year.

It feels like we are all underestimating Nicks ability to completely screw the team up in the off season.
For all the optimism of the first 5-6 weeks, we could also be 1-5 before Nicks realises his stupid plans don't work and then finally make the right changes, only for us to then play the tough stretch.

If you're shit, you get a shit fixture because no one wants to watch you

Tell that to Essendon.

Have been irrelevant for 20 years. Failed to make finals last year and nothing suggests this year will be different.

So of course that means prime time.

Crows need to be screwed the year before or you need to be a strong performing team to get what the big Vic clubs get just for existing.

I’d be pissed off if I was GWS. Exciting team, always performing and in contention. Seems like an obvious choice for Thursday and Friday night footy for neutrals to watch.

“Hey guys, we’ve got an easy start, let’s experiment whilst we have the chance”
