And? It should be alternated every year.
Why? AFC have other things they request, we've never once asked for a home ANZAC game because we know that's Port's thing.

Would you prefer a home ANZAC game and then only 1 game at the MCG?

It's obviously not high on the clubs list of requests.

Before it started being over 2 to 3 weeks we use to request indigenous round at home and Port would request ANZAC round at home. Port have made it their own now, they do quite a good job of it.

“Hey guys, we’ve got an easy start, let’s experiment whilst we have the chance”

"Oh I've got it lads!!! How about loading up midfield minutes into Laird/Crouch/Berry?! That hasn't failed before has it?! Let's play Smithers at half back too... They've all looked great playing vs. training cones this January. Nank needs to show some SANFL form first!"

Have to laugh at Carlton (a finalist) drawing West Coast AND North twice.

It's no secret that the league are desperate for them to break their drought.
I'm sorry but that's ok in my book, if it was Richmond and North that would be worth looking into, but North are on the rise and West Coast will also be better under a new coach plus they have to travel to Perth.

Every club plays two clubs from the bottom, middle and top 6

AFL 2025 fixture analysis: Carlton, Melbourne handed bumper draws as Pies, Hawks, Saints facing tougher seasons
Two clubs have been given early Christmas presents to boost their flag credentials, Hawthorn is set to face the prime time lights, and payback for the Saints? JAY CLARK breaks down the fixture.

They still finished bottom four though. A club that finished middle six like Carlton should've either doubled up against or Melbourne, not two sides who won eight games between them.

I would normally be the first to complain about copping a Ballarat/Tassie combo again, but I can't remember a kinder draw for us so I'll keep my mouth shut. Of course there's every chance things end up being harder for us as teams over or under perform compared to expectations, but I think we've done okay here.

Already planning a visit or two to soak up the AO atmosphere and get stuck into the wineries.

A fixture gift wrapped by the AFL for the unthreatening Nicks to make the finals and get a contract extension.

It feels like we are all underestimating Nicks ability to completely screw the team up in the off season.
For all the optimism of the first 5-6 weeks, we could also be 1-5 before Nicks realises his stupid plans don't work and then finally make the right changes, only for us to then play the tough stretch.
Isnt Davis running the show in all but name now?

In this league, with the amount of clubs, with over half in one state, it's literally impossible for a fair and equitable draw for each team.

Our persecution complex as a supporter base when it comes to this stuff is just as sad as port whining about wanting the prison bars.

It is what it is, we've finished top 4, minor premier, top 8, with the exact same conditions many times in the past. If we're a good team and deserve to be, we'll be up there irrespective of who we play.

The fixture discrepancies are never going to change, just like the Grand Final is never not going to be at the MCG.

AFL 2025 FIXTURE DIFFICULTY (from easiest to hardest)

Based on the 2024 percentage of the teams they play twice in 2025

1 (Easiest). Richmond

2. Melbourne

3. Carlton

4. Adelaide Crows

5. Gold Coast Suns

6. West Coast Eagles

7. Western Bulldogs

8. Geelong

9. Sydney Swans

10. St Kilda

11. North Melbourne

12. GWS Giants

13. Fremantle

14. Essendon

15. Hawthorn

16. Collingwood

17. Port Adelaide

18 (Hardest). Brisbane Lions

Good luck to all teams who play Carlton this season. The VFL really want a Blues premiership this year!

Unfortunately this could be the fixture which allows Port to get away from Hinkley. :(
