How does Port not get a Friday night game lol
We even get more games at the G than they do, haha.

I guess the league knows that Port won't make a GF under Ken (to quote a Hawks poster from the MB).

At least we’ve won there in last 15 years , unlike Geelong
The prospect of being stuck on a bus for hours to and from a game after/before an interstate flight is just flat out unacceptable.

The AFL makes enough money in what is touted as a fully professional sport, and it really should never happen. One day, some AFL employee will wind up with DVT from one of these ridiculous trips and sue their asses off.

Absolutely MUST win the St Kild and Norf home games to start.

Then ideally win at LEAST 1 of the Ess/GC away games (ideally both) - before we even start to get into the serious games against Geel in Gather round, GWS and Freo away (damn tough patch).

3-3 seems a realistic, meet expectations kind of start to season.

4-2 very positive can build on that.

2-4 or worse and pressure will be insane on Nicks.

2-4 should be a sacking of Nicks with that draw.

It’s actually not that far to the airport , hour and a bit maybe

The soft start is much needed, we should be 3-0 rather than 1-2/0-3 the last couple of seasons.
The unfortunate thing about playing the 'weaker' teams early is that anything can happen. Crows beat Geelong round one not so long ago when Cats were a far superior team..for example. So many early games have been won by the team expected to lose. Hope we don't get sucked in thinking these games are easy.

It's an hour and a half minimum to two hours... each way to and from the airport. With a flight before and after.

This is a sport that grosses billions in TV rights. It's just not good enough!

If we were a profession sport, the AFL would organise a chartered flight.

It’s only a 1 hour flight though , so we fly in day before and get a bus there to train and stay night then drive back 1 hr 18 mins ( googled drive time ) to tullamarine next day for 1 hour flight

We need to harden up , try being west coast eagles and flying 3+ hours every second week and adapt both ways to a 2+ hour time difference

Well it happened to Brisbane, Melbourne, Richmond and Gold Coast this year to start with
WC and Freo have 22 home games between them. 2 are against eachother. So 20 games against interstate teams.

There are 18 teams, 16 once you remove them.

So each year there should be 4 teams who go twice if everyone plays at least one. I’d also imagine most years it’s more than 4 get 2 games as not sure everyone gets 1 always.

Ballarat is an hour from the airport you donkey. It takes longer to reach the eastern suburbs of Melbourne than it does to reach Ballarat.

Could you imagine for a moment as an AFL player from WA, flying from there to Melbourne 3 and a half hours, followed by a 1 and a half to a 2 hour bus trip to Ballarat....

Ripping a hamstring in the first quarter, sitting out two hours of the rest of the game and looking forward to... another 5 to five and a half hour trip back to start your rehab?

It just shouldn't happen. Full stop. If you get on a plane, you should not have to get on a lengthy bus ride to a game. Both the athletes, and others tugging along who are no doubt nowhere near as fit (and very probably not as young)
