2025 Draw - hoping for MUCH softer

Hard to compare due to size of australia but probably yes

Surely traffic sometimes would make airport to hotel >>> 1 hour drive
Nothing to do with size, all about professionalism.

Ballarat is an hour from the airport you donkey. It takes longer to reach the eastern suburbs of Melbourne than it does to reach Ballarat.
You know what, we should do do the same thing then?

Let's start staging some games at Moomba and Roxby Downs. I'm sure people up there (through BHP and co) there will pay up enough to make it worthwhile, and the AFL will wear it. Plus we can get easy beats with no supporter base like GWS, Gold Coast, North Melbourne, St Kilda and Footscray struggling for every dollar to survive to agree to do it.

Let's make it as unfair as the Vics do, and f*ck up the whole competition in the process.

We are making some play in the Barossa. ;)

Sure, whatever. Ballarat isn't as big an issue as you think. The only weird thing is that they seem to insist on playing there in July but aside from that there isn't anything wrong with it.

It's the AFL equivalent as frozen f*cking tundra, hard as a rock. The Bulldogs players hate it, but they can't complain because the team is broke and they have no choice. If they think they will beat every non-Vic team dragged there to play handily every time they will do it... but if the losses mount up, it will be another story.

But yeah, there's nothing wrong with it.

Our double up games have the potential to turn into a nightmare draw once it's reassessed after the 2025 season.

Port, Hawthorn, Gold Coast and Collingwood will all be either in the 8 or around the mark.

It could easily end up that we play 4 teams twice that will finish in the top 8.

Will lose both to hawks and pies and split the ledger with Gold Coast and port

Gold Coast, they'll be middle of the road, around our position on the ladder.

But Port a finals side for sure, and probably Collingwood and Hawthorn.

Going back to your original point of '1hr flight and 1 hr bus is career ending' (slight exaggeration).

You might want to look up some transits undertaken in European sport.

Extrapolation to the WA teams who cop the same shit (and pretty much the Queensland teams). Add on an the additional flight time that I indicated, and how the hell is this fair? Or even healthy?

Back to my original point (thank you).. at some stage, someone will wind up with DVT from this and sue the AFL's ass off. Then, and only then, this totally unprofessional conduct will change.

It’s fun but kinda pointless to wonder if it’s a hard or easy draw. So much is about getting a team at the right time (Brisbane first month this year a vastly different proposition to the second half of the year for example). And who would have had Melbourne bottom five this time last year? Or Collingwood missing the finals.
That said it’s at least not a horror draw (as near as you could tell at this stage) so no excuses.

Power and Suns are 10th and 13th fave for the flag. Seriously Lions, Swans, Blues, GWS, Freo, Bulldogs, Dees and Cats are better chance of making finals than those 2 IMO

No way is it a hard draw with 2 effectively guaranteed bottom 4 teams. Power very unlikely to make finals. And perhaps best 2 of the other 3 might make it but unlikely top 4 IMO. This year we got 1,2,3,5,7 and 11 twice

It's bullshit that West Coast has to play Gold Coast in Rd 1
It's bullshit that Melbourne has to play Greater Western Sydney in Rd 1
It's bullshit that Fremantle has to play Geelong in Rd 1
I acknowledge that Port Adelaide has to play Collingwood in Rd 1 which is unfair
It's bullshit that Melbourne has to play Gold Coast in Rd 3
It's bullshit that Hawthorn has to play Greater Western Sydney in Rd 3
It's bullshit that Carlton has to play Collingwood in Rd 4
It's bullshit that Melbourne has to play Geelong in Rd 4
It's bullshit that Richmond has to play Brisbane in Rd 4
It's bullshit that North Melbourne has to play Sydney in Rd 4
It's bullshit that Melbourne (holy ****, does the AFL have a vendetta against them?) has to play Essendon in Rd 5
I acknowledge that Port Adelaide has to play Hawthorn in Rd 5 which is unfair
I like that the AFL has given us an all non-victorian Primetime national telecast game in Rd 13
It's bullshit that the AFL scheduled 3 Marvel Stadium games in Rd 17
It's bullshit that the AFL scheduled 3 Marvel Stadium games in Rd 20
It's bullshit that the AFL scheduled 3 Marvel Stadium games in Rd 21
It's bullshit that the AFL scheduled 3 MCG games in Rd 22
It's bullshit that the AFL scheduled 3 Marvel Stadium games in Rd 23
It's bullshit that the AFL scheduled 3 MCG games in Rd 24
It's bullshit that Adelaide, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide and Western Bulldogs are covering the slack of Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Geelong, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney with travelling to other teams' secondary grounds. But I guess Essendon, Gold Coast and Melbourne are at least going to alphabet park. Inexplicable that Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong and Sydney get to avoid it altogether.

Honest question - WTF is up with Port Adelaide's schedule

Home games vs Richmond, St Kilda, North Melbourne, Adelaide, Geelong, Melbourne, Sydney, Carlton, West Coast, Fremantle, Gold Coast - That's 5 of the 7 non-victorian teams (so will be banished to foxtel for all games).

Then the Victorian teams are the poor supported ones like North Melbourne, Melbourne and St Kilda. And a Richmond side with the wheels off the bandwagon.

They only have 3 teams that can draw in Geelong, Carlton and us. And that Geelong game isn't even primetime with Carlton TBD. Their only home primetime game is us in Rd 9.

Throw in the fact they have away games to Western Bulldogs in Ballarat, Greater Western Sydney in Canberra, Hawthorn in Launceston, and to top it off, Geelong in Geelong. (a club should only have to travel to 1 of the aforementioned venues, not 3 like Port. And if you include Geelong's 10 games, a little less than half the teams should be going to TWO regional venues, not the 4 that Port has)

And only 3 games in Melbourne, 2 of which are at Marvel, and the 1 at the MCG is in Rd 1. And if my calculations are correct, they only have 2 games with a national broadcast.

That's one of, if not the worst commercial draws I've ever seen. With a fixture like that, I'd be sitting here wondering whether they've just won the last 3 wooden spoons, with no foreseeable hope.

Draw is pretty damn good and early season momentum is crucial and the draw gives us some chance to get it

Time to beat collingwood so glad we play them twice

We have no excuses next season

Going to Perth twice is good as we want to play the eagles twice

Freo will be top 4 next year so that won’t be fun
Freo were meant to be top 4 this year too, I would never assume anything about a club with the history of Freo

Yeah really weird how they’ve been shafted

Incredible how they have one of the most commercially unappealing draws we’ve seen yet also the second hardest draw in the comp. Did Richardson/Kochie even try this year?

It's almost like nobody is really interested in watching them play football

Yep it’s closer than Waverley in the old days
Not for us Melbourne based members.
What you and the club don't give a shit about is we only have 4 games to attend this year. Only 4.
Used to be 6. Dropped to 5. Now only 4.
I tried the Ballarat drive last year. Why don't you check your Google and see where all the parking is. Allow a 30 minute walk through wet paths, maybe a small footpath in areas from any spot you can find in distant roads. My socks were soaked through last time. No protection from the blistering cold wind. Crap experience for what is meant to be AFL.
But us Melbourne supporters miss a docklands game for that place. Plus the Haw game in Tas.
I'd settle for one of them and still get 5 here in Melb.
But, like I matter hey.
