Assuming we get drawn with 2-2-2 from the 6-6-6. I'd like to play Port, Lions, Pies, Bombers, Crows, Tigers twice if I could pick. Bombers at gather round in Adelaide. No game in Geelong, and different teams in Ballarat for once. Make Eagles, Swans, Freo etc, play there as well. Would like more than two games at the G as well, esp later in the season. Not to open the season vs the Demons again.

I want to double up against the Pies, Blues, Tigers and Dees if possible, maximise those MCG games. Doubt we'll play either WA team in Ballarat, they are usually locked in to playing in Tassie. Is it confirmed we will play games in Ballarat next season?

See that’s where the AFL should be making them play some of those MCG games they get there to free up space and commitments at the G for teams that don’t get the opportunity

Or, let them play all their home games at their actual home against Collingwood as well and the G gets freed up….but that doesn’t make economic sense for the AFL

Remember them trying to call it a success while it was happening while 80% of fans didn’t like it

The fixture is compromised and always will be, it’s part of the reason the AFL is a Mickey Mouse comp.

Whenever you have your fixture done to maximise profits through marquee games you are jeopardising equity.

Looking at Soccer which is so much bigger than AFL forget about the fact every team plays each other twice. But looking at the other competitions FA Cup, EFL Cup and Champions league. None of those draws are done to ensure the biggest attendance or profits. You’ll constantly see smaller clubs draw bigger clubs at the smaller clubs home venue which has limited capacity. You’ll also see bigger clubs end up on the same side of the draw and run in to the finals.

You can still have your queens birthday and Anzac Day etc without the need for a double up. You just know that those dates those teams play.

Realistically, the double ups should be done completely randomly, even do it as a televised draw to bring in some of the money they may miss out on. Then the fixture is determined after the double ups are completed.

The fact Collingwood etc never go to Geelong or Tassie vs north and hawks is pathetic. It also prevents smaller clubs growing as they are constantly forced to play bigger clubs either away or at limited capacity stadiums

And it seems the smaller clubs have to do a bargain with the devil just to stay in the comp. Don’t complain and we’ll keep subsidising you under the banner of so-called “equalisation”.
